The strainer will get the job done (see picture, it does capture the hair and prevent it from going in the drain). However, I can't get any of the suction cups to work. The strainer simply won't suction into place. This doesn't bother me too much, but it's definitely a design flaw of this product

I've had this in my shower for approximately 4 weeks, and it has turned yellow in the manner that plastic sometimes does in the sun except without any sun exposure. There's one tiny spot of white left underneath but otherwise dingy, ugly yellow. I have no idea why but I am very disappointed. On the other hand it has done a great job catching hair so maybe a different color would be satisfactory.

This product does a great job of preventing my hair from going down the drain, which is the whole reason I got this. There are two reasons gave it four stars versus five. First, the suction cups on the bottom are not intended for textured shower/tub surfaces so it does move, but not enough to prevent it from doing its job. Secondly, (I think in part due to the suction cups not working to keep it flush with the floor), water tends to back up a little on the shower floor. I went with this product instead of a metal one that would have been flush with the floor because other reviews stated that it had rusted in the shower. So this has the benefit of no rust. Overall, a great product, just a few minor flaws.

This was great until we had a baby. It wouldn't stay down when we bathed her and I put It somewhere and lost it. It was awesome when all we used it for was the showe though. It added some whimsy to an ordinarily ugly room!
