Installation is fairly easy with two people. The box is sturdy and I didn't notice any effect on the car when the box was empty or full. However, the fit guide says it fits on a 2012 Ford Escape, but the factory roof bar placement means that the box does interfere with the rear hatch. I have to place a towel over the glass (otherwise I was noticing some small scratches on the rear window). Solid product and good price, but inaccurate fit guide.

Once installed the box seems fine. It was more economical than most of the other models. The difficulty I had with installation is to tighten the side of the box where it hinges. The box opens on the passenger side only. So, you can easily screw the nuts down on the passenger side. But, once you have the box in place on your roof, you have to reach all the way across the roof to get at the bolts on that hinge (driver's side) side. I had to use a tall ladder on the passenger side, put my knee on the edge of the roof and reach across the roof. I tried reaching around the front and back of the hinge-side to gain access to the nuts, but that seemed even more cumbersome. Not sure if I am not seeing an easier way to install it. I realize that if the nuts were underneath the car rack, it would make it easy to steal the box. Perhaps on the hinge side it could be connected with the nuts tightened from below? The other side would still have the nuts inside the box. Also, perhaps a wrench could be provided to lessen the reach to tighten the nuts?

The brands that open on both sides are over $500, so I am willing to deal with a little inconvenience. And I figure I will probably come up with better strategies to get the box on and off as I use it and store it.

Amazed at how much I can fit in this!! It is perfect for only taking up half of my roof so I can also fit my bike rack up there.

Save a ton over Thule and Yakima but prepare to struggle a bit to take it on and off as the mounting mechanisms are way more rudimentary.

This holds up to weather well. I've had it on my car for cross country moves and had no issues, no leaks, no cracks, no concern about durability. It's not as strong as a Thule but it gets the job done well. Pay attention to the weight limits on this piece and you'll love it as much as I have. I use it now for all my out door adventures. It is exactly what my little Yaris needed, especially since that car has NO trunk space. A good product for the price.
