I got this to have some fun with my dog and give him something new to sniff out. My dog is an active boy who gets bored easily, so fetch only last so long. I can use the deer antler to hide around the yard and let him find it. It was pretty easy to start working with him to sniff it out. He caught on fast, and then I started moving it around our yard and hiding it all over. He loves sniffing it out. I have not taken him anywhere to go find actual antlers, but if I worked with him to do that, this training kit would get him there I believe.

Started with a ball thrower and pocket full of tennis balls, worked great to get the pup familiar with the scent--she already loves tennis balls. The balls absorb the scent and hold it for a long time.
The antler is great, people saying it's too soft or torn apart easily are probably treating it as a toy or allowing their dogs to chew on it. My pup will sniff it out, grab it and bring it to me. I let her drop it and pick it back up and even walk around with it as a reward, but I won't let her chew on it.
The scent is great for tennis balls, but you need a wax scent for any antler as the liquid will rolls right off.
Hopefully I can update this review with shed pics.
