Don't buy 2 pounds package from this seller
NDApril 8, 2016
This is the first one star review I have ever done... I bought one pound bag of Saf-Instant at first and my french bread is awesome. Ordered two pounds package to save some money... and it was a big mistake. Ever since I started with the first bag of the two pounds package, the proofing time takes 3 times as long then before. The bread came out tasted not as good as before. I think this seller (SimplyBeautiful) is selling bad yeast.
I love this yeast
Theresa H.February 21, 2016
I have purchased this yeast before and will continue to purchase it here. I am not a yeast snob and the ease of this yeast is great.
You don't have to proof this yeast, you can add it to all the ingriedients at one time and it will turn out a great loaf of bread (I make a lot of bread and I do not proof my yeast in water before adding it to my flour). It is good cinnamon rolls, pizza dough, whatever you use yeast in.
So go ahead and buy this yeast if your a new baker you won't regret it.
Easier to Use than Traditional Active Yeast

If you haven't tried instant yeast in your recipes, you're missing a helpful tool in your pantry. This SAF Instant Yeast allows you to skip the step of proofing the yeast separately in warm water before adding it to your other ingredients. No more waiting for the active yeast to activate and foam up before continuing with your recipe.

I like the convenience of this instant yeast so much, I've been converting my old recipes from using active dry yeast into using this instant yeast instead. One extra step removed!

I've baked many varieties of breads, sandwich buns, cinnamon buns, and dinner rolls with this yeast with perfect results each time.

To keep the yeast at its freshest, keep it in the freezer both before and after opening. Once you open the bag, place it in a freezer-grade ziplock plastic bagand keep it in the freezer. I keep a small amount of the yeast in a container inthe refrigerator for regular weekly use, then refill it as necessary while keeping the remainder of the bag in the freezer. Your yeast will last a year or more when stored in this way.

Recommended.
8 year supply of yeast (making two 1-1/2 lb loaves each week)
James R NewlinSeptember 12, 2014
Good price, excellent buy if you're baking often. The cost per 1-1/2 lb loaf is about $0.01. Pretty damn cheap!!!!

This is a huge load of yeast for me, I only use like 1 tsp. for two loaves of bread.

This is 907 grams of yeast, and the recipe I use calls for 2 grams of yeast to make (2) 1-1/2 lb loaves.

Therefore, it should take me about 8 years to use all this yeast. Yeah....
Instant, easy, and best yeast ever!

I've been baking bread since the dark ages when yeast could involve an all night rising process if I wanted to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I wasn't sure if the instant would be up to the task, but I simply mixed it in with my pizza dough flour, and got the best grilled pizza ever! Easy peasy. But I was still not sure how it'd freeze. A week later I took the ball of dough I'd made out of the freezer and put it on the counter to thaw, Then, when it was about half thawed, I changed my mind about that night's dinner and risked putting it back in the freezer. Which wasn't really a risk since did I mention it's easy? Making another batch, if this failed, wouldn't be a problem.

But it didn't! Two days later, I thawed it completely, spread it out on my pizza stone and it grilled as perfectly as the first time. BEST yeast ever!
