Absolute piece of junk. Had to return 6 before I found 2 that worked. Now one of those just went out after about 6 months. Customer service is of no help. I will have to rely on battery powered valves although solar is by far the best option. I did not purchase from Amazon but from a large box store that was good about accepting returns.
Great idea but...
Jonas Thaler•August 21, 2014
Easy to program. Works great but I have had to replace the solar controller (meaning I had to buy a whole new unit) twice already. They last about 4 months, then FAIL. Poor workmanship? Poor QC? Very inconvenient. SAVE YOUR RECEIPT!
I wish it worked.

Been looking for a timer system that would work at my school for the garden we have. District won't allow power to be run to the garden so stuck on figuring out how to have water during the summer. Thought this would be perfect. Bought four timers to run different zones but only two worked. Then today, 4 months after install the anti-siphon valve blew up and I screwed it back on but came off again. Not worth it. Don't buy.
Never lived up to its promise
Garrett Murphy•January 24, 2014
I got this timer because I was looking to setup a timer a long way away from my sprinkler box and wanted it to be on its own timer.
Almost immediately little issues came up. I would notice that the water would turn on at random times for no reason; the timer even indicated that it wasn't supposed to be on, but water was coming out anyway.
Soon after, my settings would just randomly vanish and the valve would be completely reset. I suppose you could say that it was too cloudy for too long and it ran out of battery strength; however, I live in Arizona...anything solar should be unstoppable here.
After about 3 months, the valve casing began to leak, a slow drip, but manageable. It steadily got worse and worse until...
At about the 6 month mark, the valve just decided to open up. There was absolutely no way I could turn it off except to turn it into a manual-only valve, which isn't at all what this was intended for.
So, one week later, I've had to replace it with a new valve. Stay away from this thing.

Great idea, worthless implementation
Ilya•August 5, 2013
An absolutely amazing idea and design, but the implementation is extremely poor. We went through several by the time we decided to just switch them all out with a different product done by a different company- starts working great and then on to leaking a bit when it is on and goes right into never shutting off few days or weeks into the use... Disaster waiting to happen!
