Very fun! I definitely got a great deal

Very fun! I definitely got a great deal. I've owned two other 4CH RC helicopters, Dynam and Walkera; So I have a little practice. The V912 seems speedy to me, but I am out of practice so maybe I am the problem, hahaaa! However, no crashes for me. I have to mention that I encountered some servo issues/malfunctions 2 months after my purchase date and the seller not only responded very fast but helped me to repair my V912! I was well out of the return/exchange policy. They had no obligation to help me but they did anyway. I am very grateful the seller went out of their way for me. I just got back to flying and it's so much fun. I Definitely recommend the V912 and from this seller. Enjoy!
Very disappointing., multiple failures, and hard to trim.

ver, very disappointed with this V912. The tail rudder is too short to protect the tail rotor from striking landing surfaces, or any obstacles, which will quickly strip the tail motor pinion gear, and/or the ring-gear. I had to buy a tail motor in order to get the pinion gear. After waiting for the parts, I replaced the stripped parts and the V912 flew fine for one and one-half flights, and then the main rotors stuttered and then stopped entirely. Now I'm just letting it sit while I decide if I'm going to put any more money and time into the project. I also, had a second V912 that I bought which was impossible to trim. I sent that one back, but this one exceeded 30 days because of my attempt to make a cheap repair. WRONG! I should add, that I have two WL V911 helis and they are a good, worthwhile toy to buy & own.
V912 Review

Edit: I'm changing my review to 4 stars. I found the High rate setting. It was the lower right button that says, "L/H Converter" (see pic). I guess the newer version uses the upper left button for add-on accessories like camera operation, etc. Also, I'm not sure how realistic it is to change out the battery between flights as it's in the canopy and ended up being tape down also. The solution? Buy a few more helis, of course!

This heli is loads of fun and you can't beat the price. I would have given it 5 stars, however, there was no Euro to U.S. AC adapter, which was a minor inconvenience. The high rate button (top left on transmitter), does not work so I'm stuck on low rate (less responsive)...looks like I have a defective transmitter. Don't think it's worth sending it back though, I may just buy another transmitter. (I FOUND THE HI RATE SETTING).

I would not suggest this for the beginner pilot, maybe the V911 would be better, but I don't own one of those. This is my first time flying any heli, but I have loads of stick time on a simulator so I was able to fly this one right out of the box (after charging the battery for over 1 hour, and after buying the AC adapter).

Pro's
1) Tough bird, but consider ordering the spare parts right from the start. Not had to use them yet, but it's inevitable.
2) LED light on the front is an added bonus.
3) Fairly stable but, if you're a newbie, consider getting simulator time before flying this to save time and $$.
4) Transmitter has a "hobby grade" feel.
5) Just plain fun to fly

Con's
1) 7 minutes of flight time, on the nose. Set your cell phone timer to 6 mins, b/c this guy will fall out of the sky when it runs out of juice.
2) 60+ minutes to recharge. You can buy extra batteries. Battery is inside the canopy and screwed down...not a big deal really.
3) Hi rates on radio, used for more response, don't work. I can deal with that for now. (I FOUND HI RATE SETTING).

Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed and again you can't beat the price.
Gone But Not Forgotten

This is a fun heli, it has some power and is pretty easy to trim out. However it's responsiveness for making left right/forward back movements is a little slow and not powerful. Funny story today I took it to the park and the wind is very low so I take it up, just got it yesterday. Well it outflew me and bam off and away it went almost out of sight, far enough I couldn't tell it's direction anymore. So I knew it was over a bunch of trees and brush so I killed the motor and let it go so as not to allow it to fly any further into houses or cars. And then it was gone for good the brush took it. Can't find it and ordered a new one today. Mostly my fault but this heli does advertise it can take light winds, but I wouldn't advise letting it go far it will be very difficult to get back to you. So sharing this valuable lesson learned for those who get over zealous with flying when excited and to keep this thing close and low.
Great, needs minor tweaks.

After losing two v911's due to very, very slight winds, I decided to get this larger v912. It's a great helicopter, definitely the best you can get for the money. A few notes, however:

Pro's:

PRICE.
Good build quality
powerful motors
very stable
sounds awesome, as do all larger helicopters
better wind resistance than the v911, but still pretty bad in the wind
parts are fairly cheap
won't kill you if it hits you (but it still hurts really bad, don't ask how I know)
Very fast if you use it on H mode, along with added a switch to permanently enable the turbo mode on the top right of the transmitter.

Cons: Mine required a lot of trimming and trying to move forward was painful as it took forever to get a decent forward flight speed. I did two things that helped this greatly; 1) I manually set the servos by unscrewing the arms, playing with it for a while to set the correct levels/angles of the swashplate. A completely flat and level swashplate (at least that's what it looked like) actually caused the helicopter to want to fly backwards and resist forward flight, and I found that a forward tilted swashplate actually kept the thing hovering better without it pulling forwards or backwards and made moving forward much faster.
2) I went to radioshack and got a toggle switch to replace the button on the top right of the controller beause that way you can turn on, and keep on without holding the stupid button down, the 120% servo arm movement mode.

Some other things...if I flew forward quickly and tried to make long, wide turns, I dont know if the tail motor was locking up, was just not powerful enough, or there was a delay because the motor must stop spinning, and then spin in the opposite direction, because often I was have absolutely no tail/turning control which would cause the helicopter to basically fly sideways into things like trees. This was annoying. This probably has to do with the cheap gyro and not the potential power from the tail motor and large tail blade.

After the last crash I had, however, now the tail motor is not working unless you stick right (so the motor itself is fine, the gyro fell/broke off of the circuit board). But I've ordered another and took apart the first one for parts :]
