Do not buy any Fortress products.

I am easy going. I know that stuff happens. I bought the entire Fortress System and then an extra motion sensor. This has never worked right. Just awful. First: the window/door sensors did not work. I deleted them and re added them, I changed the batteries too. They took the paint off my windows. Second: the motion detectors worked randomly. I had to delete each one and re ad to get the system to find them. I tested each one at a time. Several days later I got up forgetting to disarm the alarm and 3 of the 4 sensors were not working. Never knew the alarm was still armed until I went into the back hall several hours after getting up. I changed the batteries again. Still are not working 100%. Every night I had several false alarms from the window sensors then the motion sensors began. There was one specific sensor that kept going off so I deleted it. Then a couple nights later the motion sensor at the bottom of my stairs starting sending false alarms. Deleted that one and took one from another room to replace it. Then the panel started telling me low battery. I gave up. I'm a widow that was hoping for peace of mind. It didn't happen. I will say that each time I had an issue they did get right back to me via email. The live chat on their site is never up. I truly wished this worked out but it didn't. I've lost my patience and $300.00. Live and learn. Oh, I bought a Google voice voip box and when I went through the day long process of hooking it up and then I read if you use the land line delete the app and don't use your cell. UGH! I should send a bill to the Fortress company for my time invested. I did send a few emails stating that I wanted my money back and to not be charged a 10% restocking fee but that didn't happen. I will now notify the BBB.

This is really the very weak link in an otherwise very good system. I'm replacing a wired security system and all of my sensor wires terminate in a closet. As I don't have good access to the main control panel, this wireless keypad was my main source of controlling the system. Even though it has a power cord, the back light turns off after a few seconds, making the numbers very hard to read until you press a key. Also, the alarm status on this keypad shows the last state you set with the RDIF keypad, not the actual state of the alarm. If the alarm is armed through the RFID keypad and then disarmed through a remote, the RFID keypad still shows the system as "armed". It is really ashamed as a good secondary keypad would make this an awesome system. As is, I'm returning everything and searching for another solution.
This remote is a necesity for everyone.

The remote key fob is a necessity for the Fortress Security S02 system. Arming/disarming the system with the remote is far preferable to using the console, especially on this version of the system. The system can be set to "chirp" (loudly!) when the alarm is armed or disarmed, which is a very desirable feature when using the remote, but is harmful to the hearing when using the console (and with the default attached siren). These remotes are inexpensive enough for everyone to have one and they work very well. They have an antenna but I have never needed to raise it. And it has a cover to prevent the accidental press of the buttons. Overall we like this system very much, and the remote is a very desirable feature.

I have to say, as a beta tester, and an individual of technology, for the minimal price I paid for this item and for the fortress security system, I am impressed with it's performance. I had a couple of obstacles with setup, however minimal and customer service addressed them promptly. So relatively seamless setup. At this point in time, everything works as intended and would recommend this Fortress system to any of the do it yourselfers out there whom require basic home of small office security systems.Fortress Security Store (TM) S02-A Wireless Home and Business Security Alarm System DIY Kit with Auto Dial, Motion Detectors, Panic Button and More for Complete SecurityFortress Security Store (TM) S02-A Wireless Home and Business Security Alarm System DIY Kit with Auto Dial, Motion Detectors, Panic Button and More for Complete Security.[[ASIN:B00A1D907U Fortress Security Store (TM) S02-A Wireless Home and Business Security Alarm System DIY Kit with Auto Dial, Motion Detectors, Panic Button and More for Complete Security
Adequate; no better,

Oddly enough, two of these are front sticky (mount inside a window), and two are back stick (mount outside a window or door). I wish they had chosen another shape other than the diamond. It's difficult to mount these level, and if they're off center they look cheap and unprofessional. I tried mounting them square, so the "Fortress" word is diagonal, and they look fine. Some of these have already started peeling at the corners. Evidently, the stickum is barely adequate. Given that the signs are the most effective deterrent to the average run of the mill crack addict burglar, I'd have liked these to be a little more visible and professional looking. That having been said, I have these pasted all around my house, and hope they will drive away the goblins even before the alarm system itself does so.

After about nine months, some of the stickers are peeling away from the glass, and one (facing west directly into the afternoon Texas sun) is not just faded, but actually blistering. Advice: use interior stickers on east/west windows (the glass seems to protect the printed surface slightly from sun damage), and save the exterior stickers for north/south. Alas, after about fifteen months, an interior sticker facing north just came away on the rag when I washed the window. Good thing these come in a pack of four.
