Do not recommend this product. When my baby eat it, he will cry. I tasted it and it horrible taste. We bought it on June 10th. I thought he did not eat at beginning that he may eat later. However he will refuse eat the breast milk when this rice cereal in. We finally force him to eat a couple times. He is not only constipate (three days not having a bowl movement. He usually has a bowl moment every morning. My friend's baby has a same problem when eats it. Her baby did not have a bowl movement for 5 days) but also put his hands into his mouth following crying hard every time so I decided to not give him anymore. I called amazon customer service bz I still left full 5 boxes. Can I return back because it not only waste money and waste foods as well. But amazon refused to return back because it is foods product which I understand. I thought it is not a lot of money, but I highly not recommend this products to give other babies.
love it-- baby's breakfast for past 6-7 months!

I've been feeding this to my baby since shortly after starting her on solids (around 6-7 mo). She's now 14 months, and I still like to feed her this cereal in the morning -- primarily for the iron and fiber. I even mix her vitamin D drops in there :D
I'll sometimes mix puree with it, to give a variety and different nutrients, but baby loves it with just water :)

My son LOVES this stuff. I started giving it to him at 4 months and he just loved it from the beginning. He's now 6 months and still loves it. Definitely a good buy for a beginner eater.

They were all expired.
Won't constipate like other baby cereals; great for babies who need more than fruits and veggies

I don't know why the local stores don't carry this. Gerber Barley is the ONLY baby cereal I have found that does not constipate my babies (and I've had 11!!) They discontinued this for a while and I was very happy to see it back up here after my last baby was born. She has a more sensitive stomach than even my other babies; and so far she's doing great with this one too. I usually blend it with a little bit of baby apple and some of my pumped breastmilk to thin it out, and it's always a huge hit!
This new box (well, it's new as of a few years ago) is awesome too, no more flaky mess leaking out along the seams and getting on your counter. It works great. Plus the cereal itself doesn't clump at all like some of the organic brands. So although I would prefer something a bit more natural, you can't bypass the fact that it does work for babies who are getting constipated and need something a bit more substantial than just veggies or fruit.
I usually just use this and jarred baby food for a few months, and very quickly they are on "real" food that is mashable, I have typically found that they can pretty much eat whatever I am eating if I just mash it up for them. But this is great for that transition period.
Definitely recommend this for babies who get constipated by the other brands and varieties.
