Looks great in my Cichlid tank! Well packaged
All crushed sharp broken sea shells/NO cichlid sand

Could no use this in my cichlid tank. I previously ordered the sahara 50lb mix and it was actual sand perfect for the tank. I wanted just another inch of substrate for my tank to top it off and ordered this one, it was a bit lighter color but came in a smaller 20 lb bag. It arrived and there is NO sand in the mix its just a bag of very sharp broken sea shells. I have bottom feeders in my cichlid tank and live plants as well. This sharp jagged edges of all these shells would be too dangerous for the fish and plants.

I love that this mix is pH set for cyclids - makes refreshing my tank possible without harming my fishes. BUT, the dusty residue that needs to be rinsed out is hard to eliminate. It left the water cloudy for several days and when I still the rocks around while cleaning it clouds up the tank for a while again. The fish seems to be okay tho...

My African cichlids are enjoying this sand, and my PH is great, and stable. My cichlids are breading already since I started using this sand.
