Straightforward Install - Results Look Good
Ben•July 13, 2016
This was pretty easy to install. I am far from handy with tools and cars, but I was able to install this myself in about 2 hours, using a cluttered workspace and a hacksaw. It basically broke down for me as:
1) Precisely measure, cut, and remove the molding (20 minutes)
2) Further measure and cut the molding that you removed (30 minutes, with a hacksaw)
3) Re-install some of the molding (15 minutes)
4) Install the roof rails (30 minutes)
Step 1 calls for a special tool to remove the molding. I used a plastic putty knife and a screwdriver. No need for a special tool. I did purchase a metric tape measure for about $8 at a big box store, and am glad that I did this. A standard tape measure would have made this a much harder job.
If you have a reciprocating saw, then steps 1 and 2 will go a lot quicker. I used a hacksaw, which was not optimal, but got the job done. If I had it to do all over again I would have spent the money on a reciprocating saw though. It would have made cleaner cuts, and quicker. The hacksaw gets hung up on parts of the molding. Not fun, but workable.
As another reviewer said, the instructions for 2012 and 2013 contain an incorrect conversion of mm to inches for the first cut of the roof molding. 1673mm is the correct measurement but the instructions say this is 66.8 inches when the actual conversion is 65.87 inches.
Tip: If you're also going to install the crossbars, then put the joint holders into the rails before putting them on the roof. It will be a little easier not having to do that while they're on the roof.
Bottom line: Take your time, read the instructions, and pretty much anybody can knock out a high quality job in 1-2 hours.

Fits perfect on my 2008 MDX
A Perez•August 11, 2015
Fits perfect on my 2008 MDX. All parts needed to install are included. Easy to install as long as you measure 10 times and cut once. for 2007-2009 owners I would recommend using the 2012 directions though which directs you make the cut closest to windshield first and then cut the smaller sections. The 2008 directions wants you to remove the whole drip molding and then cut which is a problem if you don't have the windshield tool.
Perfect fit for my 2010 MDX
