Pure Fix, you’ve done it again!

I had this bike (in the 58cm flavor via CL local purchase) before and loved it besides its size. It was a no brainer that i would revisit Pure Fix again as the indelible impression the experience left was of manufactured intergrity. I love my (correctly sized) bike and appreciate it's modest YET expansive presentation.

The bike was "out of (new) stock" when I ordered in through Amazon and found the used/returned condition to be acceptable. The frame and, bars, wheels and accessories came all together in a relatively well padded/secured package. If you have a modest understanding of bike assembly you will find about a 30min timeframe. I dont mind a bit of tinkering so this purchase was the right move. If you are looking for a fully assembled bike with a bow on it delivered to your door, go to Walmart. If you want a dope bike at minimal effort THIS is the bike for YOU as it was for me.
Pure Fix surpassed my expectations - High quality ride at a reasonable price.

I have numerous high end bikes, both road and mountain. I am in great shape and ride often. When I ride with the family, I feel like I am not really getting a workout. Recently when I ride with them, I started to ride in just a low gear to give myself a better workout. Someone suggested a fixed gear bike. I found the Pure Fix on Amazon, and since the price was reasonable, I thought I would give it a try. I was expecting the bike to be of average quality, something similar to department store bike. I could not have been more off. I was pleasantly surprised to find the bike is well manufactured and just screams of quality. Even though the bike is simple in design and components, you can see the quality. This bike is a blast to ride. I actually have taken the bike on several 25-50 miles trips and it has performed very well. I also get a ton of compliments on the bike and they are always shocked that they are priced so well. I know of several people that have gone out and purchase a Pure Fix because of seeing and riding mine. I would highly recommend this bike company. They build a high quality fixed gear bike at a more than reasonable price. You will not be disappointed.
Great not Wonderful

Bike came super fast and the frame seems very sturdy. However, the brakes are TERRIBLE. Honestly it's halfway dangerous. I've adjusted mine 4 times and I still deaccelerate very slowly. The tires also seem a little cheap but so far they have held up so I can't say anything about them. Overall the bike seems great quality for the price. Rides smooth and the design is beautiful.

Assembly was actually easier than I initially thought. The first 30 seconds of the tutorial video he sites all these tools you need (most of which where specific to the bike mechanic and not everyday tools). I thought I was going to need to take to a shop but quickly realized you can put this together with everyday tools. The specific bike tools probably just make it easier. Overall very pleased with purchase, however, the price point is about hundred dollars cheaper than depicted because tires and brakes seem to be something that will quickly need an upgrade. None the less I'm happy with the purchase.

I'm from Pittsburgh so this was obviously the color for me. This is a really nice bike, I wanted a single speed because all the bikes I've ever rode with multiple gears always get out of whack and cause me trouble. I've rode my bmx bike for like 10 years, but I'm a big dude 6'-3" and I needed a bike I could cruise around on and actually sit down. The single speed is what I know and love. Its simple, but strong. There's not a lot that can go wrong on this beauty and there's comfort in that. I did swap out the handlebars and stem for Black Ops BMX stem and bars. That puts my bars 9" taller and a few inches wider than the stock bars that came on the bike. That swap made the bike more comfortable for cruising and gave me more control for doing tricks. I'm really happy with it.
Not the best, but still awesome

While this is definitely not the perfect fixie, you simply can't go wrong with a bike this cool at this price. I live in a relatively flat shoreline city that is pretty easy to cycle. I use my bike during the warmer months as my primary mode of transport: to and from work, to and from social activities, even to and from the grocery store. From March until December, I barely get into a car.

For the past two years I've ridden a cheap fixie I also bought on Amazon. It got the job done but there was enough wrong with it to know that it wasn't the *perfect* bike for me. I decided to upgrade this year and chose the Pure Fix. I'm not at all disappointed with my decision! It's a great bike...but at the same time, I know this still isn't the bike I'll be keeping forever. In a few years, I'm sure I will upgrade until I can find MY bike.

Here are the pros and cons:

PROS:
-The thing is just pretty to look at. I got the one with a black frame and red tires. It's badass in pretty much every way.
-Everything is elegant and simple. There's nothing on this bike that doesn't need to be there and it seems specifically designed for the urban cyclist.
-The pedal speed is perfect. Some fixies pedal easy which is great for most times, but then when you're going down a hill the pedaling you do is basically pointless. On the flip side, a bike that pedals hard will be difficult to get up even a small hill. This bike is in the sweet spot and pedals just right.
-The tires on the bike are not treaded...they look like a big bicycle tube. This may put some people off but in reality bicycle tires are only treaded because people think they should be and would hesitate to buy a tire that wasn't. The Pure Fix blog explains this whole concept better.
-The bike comes with a few extra things which are a nice touch, most notably a small container of touch up paint for the inevitable scuffs and scratches it's going to get. I think that's an awesome addition.

CONS:
-The bike is relatively simple to put together, but no instructions are included on how to do so. They have a YouTube video where a guy demonstrates how to do it, but the video is not as thorough as I would like. Written instructions would be preferable.
-The brakes are real squealers. Obviously, all new brakes are going to squeal but these things SQUEAL. Everytime I stop I feel like I'm going to break car windows.
-Although I think the non-treaded tires are really cool, the photos here on Amazon show a bike with treaded tires. Eventhough it's not necessarily a bad thing to get some cool and different tires, it still is getting a product that is different than what was presented.
-The saddle has very little padding and is kind of uncomfortable. I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade that or not but it's definitely something I'm thinking about.

All in all, this is a great bike and I'm pleased with my purchase. If you're looking for a great fixie to get around your city and don't want to spend $500+, you can can't go wrong with this! Plus, all your friends will comment on how cool your bike looks.
