Excellent bait cage

This bait cage is large with coated heavy gauge steel and small holes. I often leave my crab pots for overnight soaks and this is a great bait cage for that as it will hold lots of bait and the bait will last well. Since it's well-coated it should last many seasons and not rust out like other bait cages that I've used in the past.
Bait cage works, holds bait very well.

Best bait cage for crabbing if you use chicken and clams for your primary bait. I clip it to the top center of my pots in such a way to minimize it from moving around the cage. But the biggest plus is that (except for the clams) the bait stays intact and you keep just keep re-using the same boat with nearly no impact to a reduction in crabbing results. I do however use a folded sponge with crab attractant in the middle of the bait cage that I refill every 2 days and that does the trick for this setup. As the crabs mess with the bait, it squishes the sponge a bit and more bait attractant comes out. Great results. BUT if there are no crabs, don't expect this to be a miracle worker.
