I recently discovered quinoa, and I'm having fun finding ways to use it.

This particular version of it is good quality, it IS prewashed, and cooks up nicely in 12-15 minutes. The flavor of quinoa is subtle and a little nutty, allowing it to play well with savory and sweet ingredients. One of my favorite salads uses quinoa, dried apricots, golden raisins, slivered almonds, jalapeno pepper, and a little onion, with a dressing made of lime, cumin, oil, and some other stuff.

Be careful of the price, though -- it varies a LOT from day to day. The price I paid at the time I purchased it was good, but I've seen it MUCH higher.

Overall, a good product -- if you're new to quinoa and don't want to invest in a large quantity, this might be a good first step.

I was glad to find this quinoa in a quantity and price I desired. I have been eating quinoa for over a year now and the quality of this quinoa is quite satisfactory and equal to my former purchase from a different source. Only recenty did I read a suggestion on the internet on how to presoak the quinoa that works so well for me (improves the taste and makes for better digestion ) that I think maybe it should be included in all quinoa shipments. The method is to add a tablespoon of yogurt or buttermilk to the water and then soak for several hours, then rinse and cook for 15 or 20 minutes. More specific instructions can be found by looking it up as I did.

I am new to Quinoa and wanted to try it out. All my local grocery stores sell it for much more so I got it on subscribe and save. I did read about rinsing and didn't want to mess with all that so I was glad to see that this quinoa doesn't require it. I have been using in recipes where I would normally use rice. So far it has been hit or miss. I do believe it is my inexperience cooking it and not the quinoa. I am continuing to experiment. There are tons of recipes out there, try it!

I was a little hesitant about ordering such a large bag of quinoa after reading so many stories on different brands having to be rinsed so they wouldn't be bitter and to wash out debri. When I got it, I didn't think I would be able to rinse it without washing much of it down the sink because the grains are very small and they float. So I took my chances, and cooked it as is. I had never tasted quinoa before so I didn't know what to expect. I prepared it in the same way that I do rice. I use chicken broth instead of water, and add a couple of bay leaves, onion and garlic powders, a little salt, olive oil, and a little ground cumin. My husband and I both liked it very much. So I now have a subscription for delivery every other month. Since quinoa has so many health benefits and enough amino acids to provide a full protein, I also add it to the cooked food that I make for my parrots. Since I also make all of our bread, I plan to add cooked quinoa to some of my bread recipes to increase the nutritional value of my bread. At the rate we are using it, I may have to change my subscription to 25 lbs. every month.

Roland quinoa is a very clean and quality product that I would recommend to anyone trying to provide a healthy diet for themselves and their family.

PROS:
- As of 12/28/10 the price is $[...] for 25 lbs, which is $[...] per lb, and a very good deal compared to other products here on Amazon (specifically, Bob's Red Mill Quinoa)
- Item was shipped promptly and there were no holes in the bag.
- The quinoa was pre-washed: there was no bitterness to speak of.
- The quinoa was free of debris, particles, etc.
- Directions for cooking were spot on (I didn't add the salt, but that's just my preference)

CONS:
- This is not a knock on the product, but more of an observation on quinoa itself: The quinoa texture is something I am not used to, and I would compare it to that of tapioca. If you are someone who has trouble with certain textures of foods, I would recommend buying a smaller-sized bag of quinoa to make sure the texture is bothersome.

OVERALL:
- A fantastic product! As someone who is a very involved with weight training, this is going to fit my dietary needs perfectly.
