I replaced the old style rectangular solenoid with this one. My cart is a 2008 EZGO RXV and it started to lurch and then stop. Doing some research I discovered the original equipment solenoid wasn't up to speed. I had to cut the top two wires and they went on either side of the new solenoid. It doesn't matter which side the wire is on. Just one on each side.
I got a bargain on Amazon and got my solenoid for a little over 10 bucks off the warehouse site and my wire crimps for the wires I had to cut was about 4 dollars. A fifteen dollar fix.
