Just received this futon frame yesterday - mattress enroute.
Put it together using only the included Allen wrench. Instructions are adequate, they just look like a photocopy of a photocopy, etc, etc. Entire process was only a couple of hours.
Real wood construction, no particle board or hollow plastiwood here!
Just a few recommendations; once you are sure you are done with assembly, go through once more with the Allen wrench and retry all the bolts. Guaranteed a couple loosened while you were manipulating the back and seat racks into pisition.
Then, keep that Allen wrench handy and go back in a couple weeks and tighten those bolts again. Having assembled quite a bit of furniture, I can tell you that pieces move, wiggle loose, etc with use.
Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.

This is a really nice all wood piece. I planned to place the frame perpendicular to the wall so I was a little worried what the back would look like and I couldn't find any good pictures. There was no need to worry - all the back pieces are finished and I'm quite pleased with how it looks (see picture of the back).
Instructions are straight forward, especially if you have put together other home assembly furniture. Assembly took me about two hours and there wasn't anything particularly difficult, just a lot of pieces to assemble. Frame is put together in three sections: back deck, seat deck, and bottom frame, so plan to have some extra room available during assembly. Instructions state a second person is needed to install the back deck into the frame "“ you should get a helper for that step as the back deck is fairly heavy and you don't want to get the frame scratched up.
Frame is quite sturdy and very comfortable. Overall I'm really pleased!

This review is only for the quality of engineering, instructions, and product, which all seem very good. Since this futon is only for the occasional guest I have not slept on it nor do I intend to, so I am not qualified to comment on comfort.

The seller has given careful thought to the instructions, which are excellent and in perfect english. They have pre-assembled several items so the instructions are not quite up to date, but this is not really an issue. What is more of an issue is the lack of labelling. It would be great if all parts were labeled, or at least the few that are right versus left. Plan on 90 minutes for assembly, and get a metric hex bit handy for your portable drill motor to speed things a bit. A helper is recommended near the finish.

Another reviewer mentioned that the wood is finger-jointed, but this is nearly invisible, and probably a feature, not a bug. If I had not read that review I would never have noticed the joinery.

This seems to be a very good value. The wood is finger-jointed, the finish is is not top-shelf, and a few pieces had some minor scratches--mostly where they'll never show--but overall the quality is good, better than I expected for this price, the design is excellent, and it seems quite sturdy overall. Operation is straightforward. It has two sitting positions, one pretty upright, perfect for watching TV, and a more reclined one perfect for sleeping while pretending to watch TV. It does have to sit out about 9-10" from the wall if you want to fold it down without moving it. The queen size has a pretty high back, but I don't find it freakishly high, and I love that it's the same size as all the other beds in the house. (Don't you love it when you unfold a fitted sheet only to find it's the wrong size for the bed you're making?)

Assembly would be a nightmare for those who detest such projects. Personally I thought it was a lot of fun, but then I'm one of those guys who used to build a lot of HeathKits. (For those under 60 you have no idea what you missed out on.) The instructions were quite clear and written in real English, but that said it would be easy to make a mistake and have the whole thing end in tears. My advice is to not be in a hurry, start in a good mood, and have at least one but no more than three beers while your doing it. Good luck and happy napping.

This is,a great frame that's easy to assemble using the enclosed instructions and hardware. I replaced the Futon/sofa in my 31 ft. trailer with this unit and the 8" mattress. The best decision I've made... should have done it a long time ago.
