Slow, but ideal for a child afraid of nail clippers!
Daris✓ Verified Purchase•January 25, 2017
This is a very, very, VERY slow way to file down the fingernails, but it is perfect for my 8 year old that fears having his nails clipped. This is so simple that my kiddo can use it himself. It takes about 3 minutes for him to trim down his nails on both hands. If you are looking for a fast, efficient way to file down the nails, this isn't it... sorry. If you have a fear of clippers or getting too close to the nail bed, you may like this electric nail trimmer.
Con: Slow. Doesn't file the stronger fingernails smoothly enough; may need to touch up emery board after using this trimmer myself.
I purchased an "open box" (since that option was available for purchase) and the unit was clean, unused, still in the box and appeared to be brand new. All parts and directions were included. I would definitely buy this again.

not quite smooth

This is not what I expected. It is not that great and I am disappointed. It does not not file my nails smoothly or evenly at all. If anything it file them unevenly. It's like cutting your own baings and you have to keep cutting them to make them even until they are so short you almost nothing left. That's how this file works. And to top it off it does NOT leave a smooth finish. The edges are ragged and have to filed and smoothed out with and emery board. I would return it but I threw the packaging away. I Seldom write bad reviews, i usually just return the item as I stated.
JUNK-does not do what is claimed !
David Lawman✓ Verified Purchase•November 30, 2015
This product is JUNK. It does not so what it claims which is cutting and filing nails. The device lacks the power to file or cut toenails at all. On fingernails it can file them if you are willing to hold it against your nail for several minutes. It is annoying and uncomfortable. A manual nail file is much better. This device will not cut toenails it is far too flimsy. At best you can "file" fingernails with this device. The Design of the product is poor. To put the two "AA" batteries inside(which are not included) you need to unscrew two tiny phillips microscrews and when you do that you also have to keep a metal clip in the right place that wants to fall out. Since this trimmer is really more of a filer you need to run it a long time to get any results. So you will be changing batteries often. The way this product is designed I doubt you will be able to use it after 6 months because the battery changing is messy and complicated. If you lose the screws or the cheap clip inside the trimmer will not work.
I would not recommend this to anyone.

Great for Fingernails

Good product. It seem that I have ingrown nails a lot but this works great to trim my fingernails and no problems so far. I would recommend....However I do not think they work as well on toenails, but mine are thicker.
There was no pain or smarting when this trimmer is used and I am pleased with it

I bought it, and used it recently on my 10 finger nails which were overgrown for 3 weeks - about 3 mm long. It works very well. One has to press the trimmer against the nail for it cut - the cutting is done by a milling cutter similar to those used on milling machines.
Note: my finger nails stand proud of the skin and flesh when overgrown; so the device works perfectly. There was no pain or smarting when this trimmer is used and I am pleased with it. When the nails are trimmed the nail edges are nearly flush with the skin.
I tried the trimmer on some of my friends and relatives: Some of them have nails that stay behind the skin and flesh when trimmed; for them the present device does not work satisfactorily. This can be overcome if the Pusonicusa.com modifies the design for such nails. My suggestion is to make the recess that feeds the nail for cutting so shaped nails such that the milling cutter reaches the nail leaving the skin and flesh below. This can be done by making the recess with thin edges and jutting out of the device.
I am sure the adverse comments were from people with such nail structures.
