Install was very easy. Attached cables were just long enough
Amazon Customer•August 25, 2017
Install was very easy. Attached cables were just long enough. Indicator lights are very soft so I thought it wasn't working until I cupped my hands over the device to get a look "in the dark". They were on. So just be advised the LEDs are very soft and visible only at night or when viewed very closely with ambient light blocked.
Good buy

Just has this installed and the electrician told us it's a very good surge protector for our large home.
Great price for whole house protection and peace of mind

Great price for whole house protection and peace of mind. I had an electrician install so I can't speak to ease of installation but it didn't take a qualified electrician long!
Too many hoops to file a claim
C. Moran•July 20, 2015
Seems to work but too many hoops for a claim; 1)receipt. 2)have INDEPENDENT repair facility verify cause of damage. 3) file HOMEOWNERS insurance claim 4) within 30 days, AND BEFORE REPAIRING YOUR FRIDGE, TV, A/C ext. you must contact Schneider. 5) THEN you send receipts, proof of insurance claim, independent evaluation of cause of damage to Schneider along with the damaged device. FAILURE in any of these steps voids your claim.
Why 2 LEDs?
EdV•April 5, 2015
The HEPD80 has 2 LEDs. One is unlabeled on the HEPD, and the other is labeled "OK" if illuminated and "Replace" (if out). The instructions just specify if the LED (singular) is out, replace the unit. I contacted Square D/Schneider Electric to find out what each LED is for. They responded quickly and helpfully. The instructions should be corrected to say if the LEDs (plural) are out, replace. Each LED is for one phase of the 220 V breaker (one of the two 120 V lines it combines to make 240 V) according the the tech support person. So the two LEDs monitor the two phases separately.
I can't attest to the effectiveness of the device (just installed), but it is easy to install for anyone who's worked on a service box and appears to be well made, with 4 - 12 ga leads.
