The good and the bad...and the warranty
K CMay 3, 2018
The good:

Audio quality is actually quite good, both transmitting and receiving. Game sounds are clear and the surround is kind of awesome. The mic is sensitive enough that other players can hear me making coffee in the kitchen from the living room. They are comfortable enough for hours of gaming during the course of the day.

The bad:

Appears to have been a poor choice of materials for manufacturing. I noticed the first cracks above the ear pieces in less than a month. Then little pieces of the plastic started falling out. At what is now only four months, one of the earphones is held in place only by the wiring.

The usage:

The headphones reside next to my chair. I pick them up and put them on, I take them off and set them on the cushion next to me. They have never been dropped, twisted, pulled, yanked or had any thing but care taken of them. I have put in a warranty claim with Logitech, but am skeptical that I will ever purchase this brand for a gaming headset again...pending the outcome of the warranty process. I will update this review later on after the warranty process has completed.

Finally, it turns out even better. If you have a warranty claim - these headsets are under warranty for THREE years - call them. Go to their website and file the claim online - and then CALL THEM! Their online system is ridiculously bad. However, if you do it online and then call them, the person you're on the phone with can look at it see the issue and will have all your information in hand (which they will verify) but it's much faster. I have my new headset, works lovely. Did not have to return the old set, so I'll probably epoxy them together for an emergency spare set. But seriously, call them. Don't just get bent because nothing is happening on your warranty online, call them right away and they'll sort it pretty quick.

Good luck!
The audio quality on this headset is great for the price
Andrew CaldwellFebruary 25, 2018
The audio quality on this headset is great for the price. I never any issues with sound or with others hearing me through the mic.

The issue is the plastic that makes up the headset is incredibly cheap and will break after about 2 months. Specifically the piece on the joint of the rotation mechanism. This causes the earphones to dangle loosely and hang by nothing but the wires. The plastic broke off after 2 months of use and I returned it for a replacement. The replacement then broke in the exact same way 1 month later.

I never did anything wierd or extreme with them. Just put them on while at my computer and then set them down on my desk when I was done. Always handled them gently, especially the replacement pair. They still broke.
Comfy, great sound, with a USB sound card! All for $40!

I bought these to replace a "high end" Astro headset with an external amplifier. After it broke due to poor quality, and being out $200 for my trouble, I needed something that would work for long-term use.

Some looking around, and these kept coming up in people's recommendations. I pulled the trigger without reading all the way, expecting a bog standard, cheapo headset with the bog standard 3.5mm jack, something I'd probably use as a stopgap until finding something a bit more substantial.

My expectations were exceeded in just about every way possible!

Let's talk about comfort. The headset is light, without feeling cheap, which is a huge bonus for something being worn for hours at a time. There's enough padding on the headband that I don't have to worry about the plastic digging into my scalp. The earcups are just big enough, and despite having some misgivings when I first bought them and got my hands on em (the fabric feels "crinkly" in the hand), hours later, there's no fatigue. A pleasant surprise.

Sound quality is utterly equivalent, at least to my ears, with my previous Astro set which was connected over optical. In other words, excellent.

I used the USB adapter (which appears to the computer as a separate sound device). I just plugged it in and it worked, no messing around. And as an extra bonus, even though the description here says that it's only supported on Windows and Mac, it also works just fine on a modern Linux like Ubuntu 16 with equivalent quality.

With the possible exception of the garish color (I'm not a fan of the cyber-neon blue, to be honest), this is quite possibly the perfect headset, and it puts others that cost many times more to absolute shame.

Highly, highly recommended!
Great Sound, Not Built For Wide Heads

PROS:
Sound quality is nice and crisp!
Surround Sound is very nice (requires use of included USB sound card) and really ups the immersion on games that support the surround sound.
Microphone Quality is on par however for most programs you will need to have the microphone volume set in the operating system at 98 - 100 percent (much lower than that and voice detection starts falling off for most chat programs).
Cord is long (VERY long) and has a Velcro strap for management. Inline volume adjustment and mute switch are a major plus!

CONS:
Aside from having to mute the microphone feedback in the Playback Devices settings the only real negative thing I have to say about these is the quality of construction. The piece just about where the cups attach to the headband is notorious for cracking. Once it cracks it's only a matter of time before the whole plastic plate is falling off and you are either contacting warranty or buying a new pair. I have had to replace mine once already through warranty and my new pair is already cracking. I owned the first pair for 6 months before they broke fully and the new pair not even 2 months and it's already cracked. I'm not a violent gamer so I don't throw my headset around. I even hang it carefully on the side of my desk where it's safely stored when not in use. I'm believe it is simply due to how wide my head is. The headband itself doesn't adjust to accommodate wider heads while the ear cups are adjustable to accommodate people with taller heads which I feel is where the flaw is in the design. In the attached images you can see where it broke and where it cracks. This stress point is most certainly caused by the poor construction at the joint.
Logitech Hit a Home Run with this Headset

I love love love this headset!!!

Comfortable, crystal clear mic, 7.1 surround sound, nice build quality and it looks darned nice too!

If you are concerned with durability, my experience after 6 months of almost daily use is that I have not had a single issue. No cracks, breaks, tears, failures or diminished sound quality. It looks, functions and sounds like brand new to this day.

Considering the overall quality and functionality of this headset, at this price point. it's a no-brainer. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. PS - I have no connection with Logitech nor did I receive any incentive to write this review. As an avid gamer and music lover - I'm just letting you all know that this is an awesome headset that should be on your very short list.
