I have added pics to show off this product. I have 3. They were all taken of a bedroom window immediately after 12 noon facing directly South. One is to with lights on, one is draped with cellular shade behind the drapes closed and the other is with cellular shade drawn behind the drapes. Note the clock is showing the time on the ceiling. Recent guests loved the room and apologized for sleeping late because the room was so dark.
They do block out the sun but....

I've had these curtains for a while now. The reason I purchased them was because I just moved into this new apt and the sunlight coming through the window in the morning was just too bright. I wanted to darken the room up some and these curtain do as they say, pretty much no sunlight comes through these curtains but there are a couple things you should know. One, if you use curtain rods to hang these curtains in front of your windows, just note that since they're not "tightly" up against the window frame? Light will bleed through the edges around the curtain. So some light will still be coming into the room...just not through the curtain. So keep that in mind. If you want these curtains to block out all the sunlight coming through you would have to at least secure the top part of the curtain directly against the window frame and let it hang that way.

Another thing to note is that the curtains aren't "pleated" as displayed in the photo. It somewhat become close to that look when you push the curtains to the edges but when you pull them closed, it just becomes a flat "blanket" over you window. It's not going to get any decor compliments but it will block out the sunlight...and that's the main reason I bought it. I'm very happy with these curtains.
I Was NOT Compensated For This Review - Pleased With Blackout Curtains
Heidi K.✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 8, 2016
Amazon reviews have turned to utter junk lately because most reviews left are by folks who were compensated in some way shape or form in exchange for their honest review. I feel that this sways a reviewer of a product regardless of the statement that the review is honest or not.

I was NOT compensated for this review. I was looking for blackout curtains for my bedroom as the window faces east and the early morning sunshine in the summer was waking me up at 5:00 ever morning. Now that my kids are hitting those teenage years and sleeping in until 10-11 o'clock during the summer there was no reason on God's green earth that I need to be up at the butt crack of dawn so the obvious solution was blackout curtains. After reading several reviews on other websites that were not Amazon that require the reviewer to actually have purchased the products without a special coupon code (not naming any names) I found these Best Home Fashion Thermal Blackout Curtains and decided that they seemed like my best bet in providing a darker morning experience as well as coming in a color that would work with the color scheme of my bedroom. I choose the Olive Green color as I have kind of a dusty green color wall color currently and that seemed like the best color option. I read reviews that the lighter color options did not provide as much darkness but the darker colors seemed to clash with my color scheme. The olive color was a medium tone and I hoped that it would provide sufficient light darkening.

I had to wait for a weekend where my husband was home so that he could help me install the curtains...we had them hung up in no time with no issue with the curtains...it was the new rod that caused the work. I purchased two sets of two curtains for a total of 4 panels because I wanted to make sure I had enough curtain to overlap the window edges on all four sides. We hung the curtain rod about 6 inches above the window frame and let the curtains overhang the sides of the window by about 5 inches as well. I didn't want to give the light much room to sneak in around the sides.

There is zero light let in on these curtains from the bottom and sides however a little light does come in from the gap at the top where the curtain hangs from the rod. A more fuller flushed to the wall curtain rod would probably solve this problem. You might also be able to jerry-rig something to put in the space between the curtain rod and wall to block the light. I was thinking maybe a strip of foam or something. I probably won't mess with it as really the room is pretty darn dark despite the slight strip of light that shines through. You could also purchase curtains long enough to mount flush with the ceiling and that might solve the problem too.

Overall I am happy with my purchase. The fabric is nice and smooth, wrinkles from the packaging released on their own in several days. There were included curtain tie backs so I can open the curtains during the day so my houseplants don't die for lack of light and I don't stub my toe on the bed frame in the middle of the day shuffling around in the near dark. The price was right, my package arrived on time. I have zero complaints about my purchase so I am offering up a solid 5 star review. I was about to give it 4 stars for the strip of light that shines through at the top but the flaw is not in the curtain itself but in the rod I choose and/or how we decided to hang the curtain. I would purchase these again for other rooms that need darkening like my children's bedrooms but I am afraid if I may never see them again during daylight hours.
Great for Home Theater Wall

I bought three gray pair (six panels) to cover our living room wall behind our media center. This added texture and color to the room, and made symmetrical the otherwise unworkable wall, due to the off-center window (see before and after pics). We don't open the window blinds anyway, as it overlooks our neighbor's driveway, and more often than not, we're watching a movie and want to keep light out. Wall is 192" wide by 98" tall. Four 52" panels covered the wall completely, but I wanted a more billowy look, so six panels were perfect. I mounted three adjustable-length rods on three equally spaced brackets about two inches. No finials; rods are flush with the wall.

The gray lets no light through, although admittedly they're reinforcing the fairly thorough wood blinds. I also have two of the same panels in chocolate brown in the bedroom, also over wood blinds, and no light gets through. I used wraparound brackets so light doesn't eek out the sides.
Beige ones aren't all that great as blackout curtains.

While I love the color and the feel of these curtains, I'm not impressed with their ability to blackout the sun. I purchased the beige color and installed them 6 inches higher than the window and 6 inches on both sides of the window. They do help with blocking out some of the sun, but you can still make out where the window is through the panel. I'm thinking that maybe if I add additional panels it might do a better job, but will likely have to purchase 4 extra panels ($80 plus more!) I purchased 4 panels already for two windows which are both 44 inches wide. Those 4 panels really should've been enough.
