Spacesaver!
capitalistpig•April 7, 2017
I finally installed this after it sat on my shelf for 2.5 years! Yes I'm complacent and was particular on getting it right! It took about 30 minutes and you'll need a ladder once you've identified a spot. Keep in mind both pulleys need to be attached directly to a stud or a board that is attached directly to a stud. I ended up buying 4 bolts to accomplish this due to the studs being perpendicular to the quad holes on each pulley. This thing is great. I can't tell you how happy I am that I'm not having to Maneuver an adult bike in between two cars. I still have the kids bike to worry about so I'm considering another on of these if space permits. Highly recommend one of these!
I love this idea

I love this idea. I use a piece of rope to attach the front wheel to the back wheel to keep the handlebars from rotating (if they rotate, it can cause the bike to fall off, but without rotation, there is no issue) and have had no issues aside from the occasional rope "derailment". I recommend this to everyone who uses the standard ceiling hook as it is a MUCH better design. I currently have 4 bikes hanging from my ceiling with these!
You can buy same exact bike lift directly from Amazon ...

You can buy same exact bike lift directly from Amazon for $5 less. I know I made mistake of buying one from Bike Lane and paid $5 more for same item. The only difference is color, this one is green. It's same gauge of metal, same quality and diameter of rope, same hole placement, same hardware, same pulley. Oh and this one is called "Heavy Duty" even though its same as regular RAD Cycle Bike Lift
Great product, perfect storage

I was weary buying this product with it being so cheaply priced. My concerns were quickly abated with the very visible high quality of the product. The instructions give a couple options for install; I chose to mount the product to a 2" x 4" then mounted the entire assembly overhead. It is very important to run all of the lines before screwing anything down or you will just have to unscrew it, then start over anyway. Once you have everything routed correctly, screwed down, and installed overhead, the hooks fit up to the bike easily and hold the bike with no problem. Hoisting and lowering are easy as well. Enjoy, a must buy!!!
Nice Lift

This is the second lift I've bought. The hardest part of the installation is finding the studs. I deducted a star because the rope provided frayed every time I stopped moving the rope through the check stop. Either the rope could be smaller, or the opening of the stop could be larger. I think I solved the issue by rounding the stamped metal so the rope did not have a sharp edge to stop on.
I also went to the hardware store to buy one more pulley. The placement of the cleat where the slack rope is wound when the bike is lifted has to be low enough to be reasonably accessible. The rope coming off of the assembly creates a diagonal that causes an obstruction in tight spaces. A pulley installed on the ceiling close to the wall would direct the rope straight down from the ceiling, removing the obstruction.
