I used it for only about 1 hours, but it was enough to be amazing what this thing can do.

To start with, I live in a more isolated area and my soil is full of rocks and roots. Before learning about this spade, I had to use a number of different tools in order to dig a fair size hole to plant a tree. It not only took a lot of time but was exhausting as well.

Then, I learned about this spade at one of the Spring flower/garden shows in my area. I ordered one through amazon shortly after. Yesterday, I had the change to use it for the first time. I could not believe how much easier it was to cut through all the obstacles in my soil. It not only cuts through roots mostly with ease, but all the rocks slide either right into it or around it. I was amazing how much more I was able to accomplish with this single took vs all the tools I had to use before + more time.

$50 may sound expensive for a shovel / spade so I was a little hesitant to buy at first. After trying it, I think its worth every penny and I would not hesitate to buy another one if this one ever breaks.

I bought one for myself and it was so great. My husband was using it more than I was. He walked out of the garage holding my shovel and saying "I love this shovel". So , I bought him this one for his birthday. He loves it. Makes digging in our clay soil that is full of roots and rock so much easier.

I was having issues with a standard shovel in SE TX with the "soil" (if you can call it that) constantly sticking to my old shovel making it feel like a sledgehammer more than a shovel. This "shovel" glides right through the ground and allows me to make short work of digging holes for plants, trenching to lay wire, and even cutting roots. Cutting roots?! Yes, after the protective coating wears off the edges of this shovel, be careful...it is EXTREMELY sharp.I can either chop the roots, or use this shovel in a saw like motion to cut them w/o much effort at all. I loved this shovel so much, I bought my mom one (this time the one with the elongated handle) and she loves it as well (she has a bad knee). This shovel is now 1.5 years old and is STILL just as amazing as the day that I bought it.

I'm very happy with this spade and I'm glad I got the short version with the grip at the end of the handle, but taller people might be happier with the version with the full length handle (I'm 5' 2").

I used to use a handheld gardening trowel to dig weeds out of my strawberries without causing too much damage. This gadget's business end is bigger than a trowel but not by too much. It's way smaller than a typical spade so it's nice and maneuverable around existing plants. And requires less bending and time on my knees.

Contrary to others' reports, this does NOT slip through the soil in sections where 1" gardening stones are mixed in with the soil from a previous incarnation of my garden. When I redid the garden I tried to get those stones out but I obviously gave up too soon in certain sections and this tool stops dead just like everything else I've tried.

This is basically an oversized garden trowel with footrests for exerting pressure and a handle to avoid so much bending. You still have to bend or squat to finish pulling out the weed but overall I find the process way better than before.

REALLY! Saw this on QVC and couldn't believe a shovel could be so 'wonderful'; but over the years, I've come to trust Carolyn Gracie when she gives a review of a product. She is a self-proclamation avid gardener and highly endorsed this product. She was right! This shovel is AMAZING! I finally broke down and got this when my shovel broke in off in the dirt a couple of weeks back and am VERY glad I did. It makes digging and shoveling so much easier! Hey, I'm not getting younger, so the day after a long day of gardening was really impacting my back; this cuts through the dry, hard, Texas clay like butter, really! Way to go QVC & Amazon - excellent products - excellent customer service! Keep up the great work & thanks for bring us fantastic products and deals with guarantees!
