BT+ (1.25A HE) model (shipped to California as well) Mine does not say "PLUS" on the label of the topside of the equipment. However, the plastic retail blister box, bottom side labeling, upc code, and model number all say its the "Plus" model. I assume its just a older label? I too, have a car that doesn't get driven very often, and in this case the battery wouldn't even turn over the engine once. (hope it didn't do permanent damage). I plugged in this guy, and a 6 hours later, the car started. A few hours later and the light went from charging to maintaining. Now it just sits there doing its thing: 5 stars, unless it doesn't do its thing, and then I'll be back with an update.

**I would like to see raised nibs/bumps/feet molded onto the bottom piece of plastic to keep it raised off the ground; as it has a completely flat bottom with recessed screws. The screws and piece of equipment would benefit from not contacting a moisture laden floor, very small spill on a floor, or something similar. Also, a keyhole on the back might be a good idea as well." Obviously, no one is supposed to use it around wet/liquid, but spills do occur in garages.**
This new CA compliant high efficiency didn't work for me. All my others work great.

I have 2 800mA outdoor units, and 2 older battery tender plus, the metal ones, and have had them charging cars, motorcycles, generator, for 5-10 years. This HE outdoor unit worked one day, and then started doing flashy light stuff, yellow, green, yellow, green, and no voltage output. Tried it on 2 other batteries, did the same thing. Never used it outside the garage, so isn't a weather related issue. Obviously defective or damaged, who knows? Sent it back, and switched to Batteryminder 2012, to try something new, and happy with it. Gave it 3stars because all my other battery tenders work great. i even gave a Jr. away to a buyer of my son's dirtbike, and he's still using it 6 years later. Probably just got a dud, or the new design has some quality issues. Most ratings on this thing are 5 stars, and along with weather resistance is why I gave it a try.
Works as advertised - keeps a rarely used battery in full charged state with ease.

I bought this when I had a car in the garage that didn't get driven much.

When I first purchased it, battery was dead in that car - I plugged this in and left it to charge up a battery from a discharged state - brought it up to full power easily, although it did take it a day or so. This was a while ago, might have been 2 days, I don't recall now. It taking a while is because this isn't a jump started, it's a battery tender - as the name suggests, but if you have the time, it will bring a drained battery back to life.

Before this purchase, I regularly had to jump it to get it started after not having driven for a few weeks. With this tender, was easy to leave the quick connect connected to the battery, then when I drove the car, just unplug, and go, then when returning home, I plugged it back in. Worked flawlessly - never had another issue with the batter in that car the entire rest of the time I had it.
Excellent

I have a car in the garage that I only drive once a month or so. I bought this tender, installed the lugs in the engine compartment with the quick-connect end, and now I never have to worry about whether or not my car will start. It's perfect so far. Before using this I would have to jump start the car or put the battery on a charger for a few hours before I could start the car, and now I don't have to worry about that anymore. Just raise the hood, disconnect the tender, cover the little terminals, close the hood, and I'm good to go. I don't have to use it all the time, only if I know I'm going to park for a week or more.

My Lexus is under recall for 5 months awaiting Takata airbag replacement parts. So it's stuck in the garage until that happens while I drive the rental car they are providing for me. Early on I had a dead battery from the inactivity which caused me to have to reset the computer systems for a smog check by driving the car for 50 miles (argh). Vowing to not have that happen again I bought this trickle charger (which had been recommended by the dealer but I didn't have the time to buy it then) and am very happy to see that my car is being kept fully charged during it's hibernation. (Lesson learned, take the time to do something now or pay the price of even more time and money later). The setup of this trickle charger was very simple - the hardest part was slinging the extension cord over spider web covered roof supports in my garage.
