The mail slot looks great for now. I replaced a very sturdy, but old-looking, over 50-year-old mail slot on a brick wall that drops mail into the garage. The new mail slot is not nearly as sturdy, but it looks nice for now. The dimensions said they were the same (10" by 3") as we measured, but it was enough longer (just slightly) that the brick that was close had to be cut a little and a "ring" of insulation had to be placed around it. We did not use the back of it. I am not sure how long the mail slot will look good, but for not it looks good!

This is a pretty good, standard mail slot. It has a spring that keeps the slot closed when needed (for those instances where gravity isn't enough). It looks pretty good on my door. It's also relatively inexpensive compared to the slots you'd find on the Home Depot or Walmart, and many here on Amazon.
Some notes:
This mail slot doesn't come with any sort of mail slot liner/sleeve. I wasn't expecting one but I saw reviews elsewhere that complained about this. My door didn't already have a liner so I had to buy one separately, and I honestly never noticed because my old mail slot had two flaps, one on the inside and one on the outside, so the inner part of the door was usually hidden from view.. which brings me to another note: This comes with one slot, and one opening (no slot), not two slots like some of the others (usually old) I've seen, but then again I don't have much experience with mail slots other than my own, so this probably isn't odd.
Overall, I'd say this mail slot satisfies my expectations.
