LorAnn is one of my trusted brands for flavorings and they didn't let me down with this one. It's perfect for frosting, sweet rolls, fruit breads, and cakes. Neither the butter or vanilla flavor is very prominent. It seems to just enhance that "bakery" flavor people like. It doesn't stand out alone enough that you'd be able to say it was missing, but when you add it in the final product somehow just seems better. I can make the same cinnamon roll recipe with and without but the one with always gets more compliments. I still use vanilla with this most of the time except in frosting. Already planning to try the other emulsion flavors and buy a second bottle of this.

I ordered this to make a Red Velvet Cake. But I also wanted to decorate the cake with Macarons so I used this same coloring for that as well. I haven't baked the cake yet. I forgot to shake the bottle, as advised but after so broke the seal I gave it a wee twirl before pouring the liquid. It is water based but not too liquid. Example: it's definitely looser than a gel based but not so bad as to ruin my macarons as you can see from the photos. I took a gamble but I was only making a small batch so I risked it. I'm so happy with the results. The flavor is absolutely fantastic: mildly chocolatey, citrus undertone that Red Velvet is supposed to have. The smell through the house is delicious! Even before baking, the scent from the bottle is bright and sweet but not at all artificial. Can't wait to bake my cake!
