I original purchased this for my upstairs fireplace and loved it so much that I purchased a 2nd for my downstairs one. The directions could have been better and I wish they used a Magnet instead of the Velcro to fasten to the back. The unit runs great and I don't think put off a lot of noise but it does blow out a lot of heat.
Here is the great part I originally went to the Fireplace Store and they were selling these for $275 dollars. I purchased this on Amazon for $50 which you cant beat that type of savings.
Anyone looking to add a blower this is the way to go.

Gas fireplace blower worth installing
James W Folk Jr•February 24, 2017
Bought house with gas fireplace but had no blower to force hot air out. Neighbor had installed one and helped me with this, Need to have an electric outlet inside fireplace which I had. Only tricky parts were connecting wires correctly and maneuvering the the blower over the gas connections etc. toward the back of fireplace. Comes with a rheostat, but I set my speed at an acceptable noise level and left it inside the firebox. Otherwise you'll have to drill into outside panel to allow the rheostat control to come through so it can be adjusted. Overall, the blower works well. Takes about 15 minutes of heat before it comes on and stays on about 20-30 minutes after gas is turned off while things are cooling. Heats room much better than through radiation alone.
Works but makes lots of noise in my case

Overall its OK. I like the fact that I am able to get more area covered with the heat using this device.
Pros
- blows air enough for a small to medium size room (not enough for the whole house level or a big room)
- quite an easy setup and install
Cons
- I would want a better air flow
- After a few months of use it started making noise. Like when it just starts it would sound like metal parts hitting each other (and they are). after some time (about 10 min) parts would heat up and noise goes away. THis is the most annoying thing. Everything else is manageable
=============================Update===========================================
After about a year it squeals constantly.
Initially it would start making a noise when it's cold. However after it warmed up it would work without any noise. Now, after a year and very often use, it just makes a lot of noise, no matter if it's cold or warm or hot.
This noise makes the unit unusable.
Initially i gave it a 3 star rating, but now I can give it only 1 star.

Excellent buy!!!

It was a little too tall for my installation. I was able to cut the bottom out of my fireplace insert and I used self tapping screws to attach it to the metal panel on the back of my fireplace. It was extremely easy to wire. I just tested it out and it is as quiet as I have listen to the one in the showroom where I bought my fireplace insert. It takes about five minutes to come on after attaching the magnetic thermostat to the bottom of the firebox. The store where I bought my insert wanted to $274.00 . This is a bargain it almost sounded too good to be true. It has plenty of volume.
