Great Idea for Checking Your Fluid to Know if What the Shop is Telling You is True

I like that it saved me a lot of money by not getting ripped off by an unscrupulous garage wanting to change my brake fluid. I noted that some reviewers cut their strips in half lengthwise so you can get 4 tests instead of 2. I thought it was overpriced so I took off a star for that.

Not economical for the home user. A novelty for the home user. This produce was developed for garages to identify potential brake fluid flush customers, who just happen to be there for other services, with perished brake fluid. I don't think I'll be buying anymore though because of the price. Doesn't make sense to use. Brake fluid is relatively cheap so simply replace fluid every 3 years and your golden. Unless you drive without a brake fluid reservoir cap, then I recommend getting a cap instead of checking every other month.
If you buy a car with a questionable service history, replace fluid and save your money for the fluid/service. don't think I'll be buying anymore though because of the price. Doesn't make sense to use. Brake fluid is relatively cheap so simply replace fluid every 3 years and your golden. If you buy are car with a questionable service history, replace regardless.
Now that said, this product appears to work. I tried it on a low milage car with 3 yr old fluid and didn't change color. Then tried on dark dirty fluid from a car with unknown last change date and it turned purple within a minute. Then I ran out of strips and was $11 poorer.

Overpriced but necessary for testing brake fluid

Overpriced. Only the tips of these can be used for testing. The rest of the strip is plastic. Cut in half lengthwise to get four tests out of these. Testing for water content is another test that is probably necessary which these don't do.

After a brake repair shop said my friends brake fluid was contaminated and needed $2000+ in repairs we tested with these strips. The strips indicated 10ppm copper, another tester (hydroscopic) indicated less than 1% moisture and no sign of any foreign substance was found. Long story short repairs were done for les than $150 - 1 seized caliper!
Divide them to make them last

These come with two strips, but if you open one package and cut up the sticks you can have multiple test strips for more than one vehicle.
