Great alternative to replacing $50 keyboard / mice combos.

I have a few Logitech Keyboards and Mice that people have mysteriously misplaced the unifying receiver. I purchased these and followed the instructions for downloading the software and they work perfectly. You have to download the unifying software from Logitech before they will work. Your keyboards / mice must also have the little unifying "star" symbol to be compatible with this receiver.
Might need to uninstall the old driver before it will work

Going with 4 stars because it isn't as simple as plug-and-play, but it didn't take much to resolve so still giving it good review. Laptop wouldn't recognize the new receiver, and there are no instructions with it so you are left troubleshooting on your own... Tried all the USB ports, wouldn't work.
Ended up uninstalling the 'old' Logitech mouse driver, then plugging in the new receiver and it started working then.

Works for M570 trackball mouse. Thank gosh, as I needed to replace mine badly as I lost it over a year ago and have been using a regular mouse that I'm not really fond of ever since. Seems a little pricey, but much cheaper than buying a new trackball mouse. Make sure your mouse is compatible however, as this isn't 100% universally compatible with all Logitech mice (although I'm pretty sure they make different universal receivers, which altogether cover most if not all of their products)...nice that it will work on multiple devices as well. Make sure you download the software online btw, as you won't be able to use your accessories with this receiver without downloading the software first. Also as a sidenote, if you are using this for a mouse, especially a trackball mouse, I recommend also downloading the "Smartpoint" software as well, as it lets you customize the function of the buttons on your mouse.

USB receiver came with a note explaining how to download the software to use it. Followed the directions, and it works perfectly with my M570 trackball mouse! Nothing else to purchase or anything. Great fix for the original receiver which broke while my laptop was packed on vacation.
Now I get to use my new wireless Keyboard.

I was so pleased when I learned that the reason my keyboard wasn't communicating my key functions was because I either lost, misplaced the Unifying USB Receiver, or it wasn't in the package when I bought the wireless keyboard & mouse. Now everything is working great since I installed the Logitech Unifying USB Receiver. Thank you.
