great for that 3rd monitor
ArashAugust 7, 2017
I know the history of this being a big money laundering thing for AMD but it got the job done for me with my HD7770 for my 3 monitor setup to my vertical Dell monitor (which btw Dell makes the most reliable monitors)

My graphics card only had two DVI slots, one HDMI and one display port. After reading online that the HDMi and DVI share a clock counter and it can cause issues I researched the Display port to DVI. A regular adapter would not work with my R9280x card so I purchased this. I have had no issues, noticed no loss in display. The setup could not have been easier just plugged it in and it works.
Worked great on HP laptop

I have an HP 8460p at work with whatever chipset that supports 3 monitors. I had three 22" monitors working great but then I convinced IT to give me a couple of 24" monitors that were just laying around.

I'm a snob and refuse to use VGA because it is analog and digital gives a much better picture. All IT had were a bunch of passive adapters. The two 24" monitors had only DVI and VGA inputs. I read on the interwebs that I needed an active adapter in order to get three monitors working, especially if I wanted to use digital inputs only.

Amazon to the rescue! I was able to get all 3 monitors working connecting the DVI output to the DVI input, this active adapter from the displayport out to the DVI input for the two 24" monitors. I connected the 22" from the displayport on the side of the laptop to the displayport input on the monitor. I have the 22" rotated for portrait view. My desk isn't big enough to support three 24" monitors although I'd love to order another one of these active adapters and try.

This adapter solved my first world problem and allowed me to upgrade to larger monitors which will save strain on my tired, old eyes.
Using it to drive a third monitor, and it works great
Andres LecherSeptember 11, 2016
Works with a GTX 980 to drive a third monitor (1 DVI, 1 HDMI, and one HDMI to displayport- i.e. this adapter). I had some hiccoughs getting Nvidia control panel to play friendly with the 3 different inputs, but I don't fault the adapter for this. Picture quality is great: I don't notice any difference between it and my other inputs. My only complaint would be that the monitor attached to the adapter is slower to turn on at startup, or to update when resolutions are changed, etc. This doesn't have any bearing on normal use, however (the monitor hooked up to the adapter doesn't lag behind the others frame-wise when watching videos, working on the desktop, playing games, or anything like that.)

In summary, I've all but forgotten which monitor is hooked up to the adapter: and that's how it should be. Had it for a month, no problems. Good Product; met all my expectations.
Working like a champ!

Received it quickly, plugged it in, and my three displays (which were already recognized) are all configurable as extended desktop displays for a tri-display setup. I have an HP Advanced Docking Station (P/N: NZ223AA#ABA). None of my displays have DisplayPorts, only DVI and VGA. The display on the right (smaller) is utilizing the vga interface.
