Worst quality product I've ever bought on Amazon
Terry•August 21, 2017
When I received these, the mounting bolts (that connect it to window) were screwed on so tight from the factory that my torx bit stripped it out. Fortunately, I only needed one, so I took that bolt from the other side.
Of course I would have put the other one on since it does not match the original, but I'm kinda of in a tough spot now that I have everything torn apart. Also, on the side I am not able to use (thanks to the stripped torx hole), the threads were not even on the part that connects to the window. When I tested that side, the nut stripped out the threads when putting it on.
Also, these are noticably thinner and noticably different visually from the oem. I would highly not recommend these and I would have rather spend 30 more dollars for the OEM version that actually looked right.

hinges broke within a week of putting them on.

without the plastic inserts that fill the gap, there is movement for the glass. did not think that was good. found the same plastic inserts that were on the original and put new hinges on. one week later the right one snapped off at the hinge point. OEM was metal, these are plastic. repaired hinge and then the left one broke off where the bolts attached it to the vehicle. we do not open the hatch glass anymore, just the entire door. glass sometimes moves a little but so far has not fallen off. local driving vehicle anyway. we waited several months to fix the glass so could not return them or would have. may have just gotten a bad set. won't buy these again.
Gets the job done

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer on which the back glass hatch decided to knock me into next week when I tried to shut it after unloading groceries the other day, left hinge just snapped in half. I've had this truck since 2007 and the worst that's ever happened is replacing the battery so I wasn't about to give up on it over a little ol glass hinge so I bought this set. Yes, mine arrived looking just like all the other photos... banged up, bubbly/chipping black paint- everything. However, my explorer looks strikingly similar to Disney's "Tow Mater" at this point so, these hinges are the nicest thing on the truck by now. The headache was installing, if you have a hardhat or any kind of helmet, I sincerely recommend it- your head it going to take a beating in this process, even with someone helping you. I knocked off a star for the lack of torx screw spacer, which I was aware of thanks to the reviews and I solved it by applying a thick layer of clear kitchen and bath silicone caulk around the glass hole opening before securing the torx screw. Worked like a charm in filling in that gap. Just don't let the excess that squeezes out harden. When all is said and done, I got the window securely back on and I'm back on the road again with my trusty Ford.
OK hinges, needed hardware not included.

they work but they did not come with all the supplied hardware needed to complete instillation. They did not come with the nuts needed for the top part of the hinge. I tried using the nuts off my old hinge but the thread pattern was different. First I tried going to the hardware store to find nuts that would work but it must be odd thread pattern because I couldn't find any. I ended up having to remove the threaded bolt from the hinges and tap the hole in the hinges to 1/4X20 threads. Then I had to cut some all thread to length and install it on the new hinges. It took me 2x trips to the hardware store and cost an additional $10 in tools and materials. What should have been a 15 minute job ended up taking me several hours to complete.

First: These hinges do not come with the necessary insulators for the bolts.
Second: Too much slop in the hinge pivot point. Makes for poor alignment of the glass.
When you reconnect the pistons the glass will be pushed out of position and will not latch.
I am speaking from 32 years of experience.
One of the main reasons for buying these is because of the corrosion of the old ones that usually destroys the plastic Insulators.
