This works exactly as advertised! One of the best purchases I have made! It cuts and cores easily with minimal difficulty! I love this product and have ordered more as gifts for friends! My 8 year old grandson has used it with supervision. I love the smaller slices than other products and the fold over base to pop out the core and slices works great-be sure to turn the Apple face down on a plate or cutting board when popping it out! It washes easily immediately after use- run it under hot water and it is clean and ready to use. We will see how it holds up over time, but after a couple weeks and about a dozen apples, I love it!!

Tip* I am 5'7"...I make sure I place the apple & slicer blow my elbow height so l can lean into the press when pushing the blades through the apple. I do this to make sure I get through the apple in one hard press, instead of many little attempts to press down, make sense?

I bought this slicer because my old generic brand 8 slice apple slicer would no longer cut (it was barely used and never cut well to begin with). My son always asked for apples and I would avoid buying them because slicing (or cutting) was such a pain. I buy apples in bulk now. It does take some pressure to get the apple through, but that is part of the nature of apple slicing. I am only 5'2" so I like to set the apple on the table instead of the counter so that I can put my weight down on it. We love the thin slices! Great for little ones and baking! I also love, love, love the ability to push the apple all the way through without cutting my fingers! It works on pears too! Awesome product!

But it takes a Wonder Woman's strength to push it down through the apple.
I use my rubber tenderizing mallet to get it started, then grab both handles & pound the apple on the cutting board.
The release gizmo is genius!

Apples are good for you. They contain lots of fiber and reduce cholesterol.
I know I should be eating more of them (and more fruit in general), so this little device makes it a a breeze!
The 16-slicer is definitely better than the 8-slicer. The pieces are easier to eat. And having 16 slices instead of 8 has the magic effect of tricking me into feeling like I'm eating more.
The bottom part is nice for popping the apple out cleanly. It acts like a blade protector when it is closed. And after I finish running the apple thru, the bottom part works nicely as a plate (a plus for eating on the go).
Thanks to this gadget I now eat apples regularly. I just throw an apple and slicer into my bag, and am ready to enjoy a freshly sliced apple whenever I want.
Only con: It's harder to wash around the center "spokes" of the cutter. Little bits of apple skin can get stuck there and are harder to poke out. Would be nice if it came with a custom cleaning brush or something.
