Several years ago I bought a 16 camera DVR and 13 cameras to use with it from Backstreet. Their customer service was very good and had excellent tech support. I was able to see the cameras anywhere using my phone. Cameras would occasionally go bad and I would buy replacements as needed. Then suddenly I was unable to get new cameras for that system. The new HD systems had arrived. So I upgraded and bought a whole new system at great expense and put all my old cameras in a box. A couple of those old cameras were very expensive and very good but would not work on the new system. Fast forward a few more years and I had a camera go bad and wanted to order a new one. They had stopped making those cameras and I would need to buy another entire new system. Not only that, I was no longer able to get the DVR to communicate with the internet and could not see the pictures with my phone. Their customer service tried very hard but they were unable to get it to work. I stewed for about a year. The DVR was still recording but I could only see the pictures if I hooked up a monitor to it directly. It was not communicating with my modem. My techie son came to my rescue and sent me Amazon links to this DVR and a similar one. I chose this one because of the stateside customer support and the reviews. This system takes all my cameras. The old ones and the very old ones. I love it. I can now use those very expensive cameras that have been gathering dust in my garage. The unit arrived on Friday afternoon. I made a call to tech support about 10 minutes before closing time that Friday and they answered on the first ring. I kept it short because I knew it was close to closing time for them but I was amazed they answered at all. I was able to follow the directions and get things hooked up over the weekend. I called them on Monday morning to get a couple of questions answered and, again, first ring. And the tech guy knew what he was doing. Answered all my questions. I would give this DVR and the people supporting it 6 stars if it were possible

Very good and feature packed CCTV DVR. With any new device there is and will be a learning curve. There are so many features in this unit it will take some time to learn and remember all the functions. One of the features that I find "interesting" is the time/date and the camera name display that changes from white to black following the picture background. Being able to move these to where you want them on the screen is very useful. I like being able to increase the text size for a better view One more larger size would help when looking at your monitor at a distance. Great that the second hard drive is put to sleep while the first is recording. That is if you have installed a second drive. No need for it running when it is not in use. I have 16 old cameras in use with my old DVR and a couple of new 2Mp and a 4Mp cameras would not display. This device can show both of them. I also like the small cooling fan.

This is by far the best dvr that I have installed. This is the 5th Dvr system that I've purchased.
The entire install was effortless.
Very intuitive system, and thought out very well.
This didnt require a PhD in computer electronics.
It searched out everything I needed for the install and set me up for an equally sane iPhone installation.
When I got fancy with my alarm areas, I locked myself out, but tech support took care of me in less than 10 minutes total time.
I've gained a lot of knowledge on these in 10 years, the 101AV 16 cam, has everything a homeowner or business could possibly ask for. No hired gun required, just follow the installation instructions.

I mostly really like the 2TB version of this 16 channel analog camera DVR. Installation was easy, the direct user interface is intuitive and well done, the mobile app was easy to connect and works well. The one place where things didn't work well was the web interface which required installing an app. The app required administrator access (not just to install) to the local system when run which is very bad in a business environment.

Physical installation was smooth and problem-free. This DVR is replacing a OLD PC based unit and physically much smaller and more quiet. The connections to the analog cameras, power, monitor and mouse were flawless. The old system's USB keyboard and mouse connected instantly and were immediately recognized. No problems. Physical installation was pretty close to a drop-in replacement.

The initial setup was easy to follow and all of the 10 cameras came up with their pictures. You might want to take a picture of the labels on the bottom for the serial number and model number. These are needed to register the DVR with the cloud service and not doing this was my one oversight in setting up the cloud account (to allow remote access). The direct user interface is nicely responsive.

I installed the mobile app on my iPhone6 and used it to create my cloud account and connect the app to the DVR. This was a easy process that took only a few minutes to complete. I can access both the live video and recorded video from the app without any problems. The app experience is very good.

I tried to setup the web connection for a person who wants to monitor video from their desktop PC. That was not so nice. The DVR wants to install a app which requires administrator access for the installation. That's no surprise, but what was is the requirement for administrator access to run. This is not good in this environment as most users do not have accounts with normal user permissions (for good reason). I was not able to find a way around this outside of making them part of the local administrators group on their PC. Not a very good solution and the only dark spot in this installation.

Except for the web interface glitch the 101AV 16channel DVR has exceeded my expectations. It's been running for months now and after setup there have been no problems with the DVR. If not for the web app problem with privileges I think it would be a solid 5 stars. With the web problem it's only 4 to me. In all other areas this DVR exceeded my expectations.

Top notch, fairly easy to hook up,basically hooks up by itself. The only problem I had was putting in a new password for the app. Example (similar) gg@&$1SM2
I had a hard time thinking up a password.
This DVR comes with a pre set ID and password.
Check the front page for ID, password on manual
If it is your first CCTV DVR you moght want help
installing. This was my second DVR, Works great.
