GENERIC JUNK---BUYER BEWARE
bikeryakman✓ Verified Purchase•February 6, 2018
This unit messed up after one winter month and a short (10-15) second storm-related power outage. Then went to the setup "wizard" window, (over the top of the camera images) and froze there--never to operate correctly thereafter. (I DID have the DVR powered into a surge-protected outlet strip also). You would think that with all this boasting & bragging about their "lifetime customer service" this issue should not be a problem for "ZOSI" to take care of--right? Wrong--- Wrong--- Terribly Wrong..... Instead what I got upon trying to contact ZOSI was:
via e-mail=== days & days of the "Runaround" excuses why they could not help...
via telephone=== 2 weeks of either constant busy signal--or--listening to Mandarin Chinese being spoken by a woman/ Chinese background music sometimes but not always...(obviously computer controlled).
So truly, ZOSI idea of "Customer Service" is NO SERVICE...(After sale is completed--- they will not back their own products but say so...)
Besides basically non-existent customer service---- ZOSI UNITS ARE JUNK AND NOTHING MORE A CHEAP GENERIC CHINESE-MADE
KNOCK-OFF OF A "QUALITY BUILT DVR" and I will never purchase anything manufactured by them ever again.
I believe that these others with the rave reviews of these units have never compared them to a high-quality name-brand D.V.R.
I would have to say that this unit is of very poor quality and I whole-heartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY ZOSI DVR's. BUYER BEWARE...
(I would tie a rope around it and use it as a boat anchor BUT it is no good for that either... too light! )

Thought we were getting a great deal. But we were wrong
paprj✓ Verified Purchase•December 29, 2017
Thought we were getting a great deal. But we were wrong, we got a Fantastic deal.We actually made the purchase for several reasons.
1.Because we get alot of mail and were concerned with it being stolen
2. To see who comes knocking
3.We have a rottweiler and a mini bearded collie who love to go out in the backyard and bark at absolutely everything. To make a long story short a backyard neighbor years ago. Figured he had a right, thought he had a right, to shoot our rottweiler, In Our yard while he was barking. These cameras allow us to monitor them for their protection as well as others in case they do get out of the yard
I purchased these 2/24/2017 and found out I should have purchased them along time ago * what was I thinking *
Had an issue pop up and what with the excellent company and fantastic customer support. After following the troubleshooting that was given to me.They made good and send out a replacement DVR.
Oh my gosh they have such a great warranty who can beat it
Two Years Warranty, Lifetime Tech Support!
If your product stops working in the first year we will replace it.
Not any other company I know of. Shout Out to ZOSI Keep up the
great work and Thank You

Sensitivity is misleading!!! 1 is most and 8 is least???
Kelly Clubb✓ Verified Purchase•December 19, 2017
I purchased the 8 Channel DVR w/ 1 TB drive in December 2017.
I've had it hooked up for about a week in place and it drove me up the wall to figure things out on the DVR (and I've setup a good 6 different brands of CCTV for other people. There is pros and cons that I will mention below.
Cons:
File management:
- When your dvr records events, they are specified in random order which I have yet to figure out.
- An absolute nightmare and I have yet to find a way to sort them by date/time
Configuration:
- Things like sensitivity (which you would think logically a higher number would = a more sensitive setting, it's the opposite. A 1 = most sensitive and an 8 is least. It just seems the logic is flawed.
- Reliability:
- I've so far had the device freeze up on me to the point I had to pull the power cord and reboot it. I then got a "you need to format your drive" message which means something corrupted the drive. It's the one they provided so I assume it's a brand new drive.
Mobile Apps:
- It has only worked correctly 1 time outside my personal WiFi network via their ZOSI View app. I am very disappointed as this is a main thing I need to be able to watch things when I'm away.
Pros:
Hardware Support:
- This particular box supports 1080p cameras and has 8 channels. It also has 2 audio ports if you wish to record audio. I find a lot of DVR(s) do not include the support for 1080p
- Mobile app works well and when you login to app w/ user/pass it has it's own form of ddns to locate your IP address.
Overall:
I've had nothing but a headache on this product. It's not very feature rich and basic functions like viewing your system outside of the network do not work as intended. I would "NOT" recommend this product to another person.

System works - Support is terrible - Remote View App does not work
Brett Johnson✓ Verified Purchase•December 16, 2017
The device works fine and the cameras are of good quality. I was able to set up the remote viewing through the Zosi View app without issue. Now suddenly I cannot connect from outside of my home for remote viewing making the system close to worthless. I can view everything from within house but nothing from out of the home. I work in IT so I have troubleshot everything as far as I can. If you have to contact their support - good luck. It is absolutely horrible and you will be lucky if they ever get back to you. The customer service side seems to respond but the technical support is a black hole. I am yet to get a response on my technical questions. I would avoid this company if you want to have remote viewing capabilities. And if anyone reads this and has had success fixing 'invalid username or password' error when trying to connect off your home network please tell me how you resolved the issue. I can connect fine with the app when on my home network but get a username/password error when off the network.
Anything but plug and play
The Scout✓ Verified Purchase•November 7, 2017
Finally got this running, it took me about 3 hours. It is represented as being plug and play, but it's not quite. I encountered a couple of different hurdles. The first was, once the unit was powered up, it was stuck in the setup wizard screen, because the resolution coming out of the machine didn't match the TV I was using as a monitor. After numerous frustrating attempts to get out of the setup screen, I finally ended up unplugging everything and taking the unit to another room with a bigger TV so I could see the entire screen. Once set up, the smaller TV worked but only with an HDMI cable and not the AV / BNC connection. I downloaded the app and created an account in accordance with the instructions. However, even after scanning the code, the app would not work until I established another user account that matched my app account and password. One last thing: The LAN cable has to be plugged directly into the router, it can't be a pass-through such as an Ooma. Found that out the hard way as well. Once up and operating, things seem to be OK. I could have given it 3 stars at this point. However, software is Windows only. Seriously? For that alone it gets 1 star.
