Returned after trying on in 43 degree C with 2mph wind (i.e. pre-winter temp with mild wind). Air flow through mitten top was immediate, even with small hand/arm movements. Disappointing after reading others' reviews. Would not recommend for cold weather.

XMas gift for daughter-in-law who is a runner and loves these gloves. Lost a previous pair during a move. These are all she will wear.

I bought these for myself (I'm a man) despite them saying they're women's gloves. TrailHeads doesn't make a version of these for men and I really wanted a not-so-thick pair of convertible fingerless gloves/mittens that also had an option for the thumb to be convertible (that thumb feature makes a huge difference in day to day activities). I honestly couldn't find anything out there that fit that description other than these.

I purchased the Medium/Large as the infographic indicated they were designed for hands that measured 7 3/4+" from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger (which is exactly the measurement of my hand). I'm pretty surprised at that measurement as I'm 5'11" 180lbs and a very normal sized guy, I've always had noticeable larger/longer hands than any woman I've met so I'm not sure who these giant women are with man sized hands TrailHeads is catering to. The gloves did fit me for the most part. The one thing that I should have expected is that the fingers are pretty tight width wise, I guess that's where the big difference is between a man and woman's hand even if they're both 7 3/4" long. They aren't so tight as to cut off any circulation or be so uncomfortable where I would want to return the gloves but I do look forward to the day where they may stretch out some.

The length of the cut off fingers are slightly awkward on me, they end exactly at my second knuckle and because the end of the fingers have a little thick lip around them, it makes bending the fingers a bit less comfortable than if they were slightly longer or shorter. Again, not a huge deal but worth noting.

I love how the mitten part tucks away in a stretchy pocket in the back of the hand. I previously had a pair of gloves like this that I was replacing and the flap attached with velcro that eventually went bad. My wife also had a pair like this that used a snap that fell off, so the pouch design is a great way to get the flap out of the way when you need your fingers for more than a couple moments. The thumb flap stays out of the way with a magnet which is perfectly strong enough not to have to push the flap toward the magnet, it sort of just does it automatically when you take your thumb out and stays securely in place as long as you need it to. The gloves themselves have a nice amount of grip dots on the palm where you can securely grip something. My previous gloves didn't have that and if I needed to grab something like a pole in the subway my hand would be slipping around until I took my glove off.

In terms of warmth and softness, these gloves aren't too great at that. The mitten flap needs to be thin enough to tuck away in that pocket and the whole glove is made of a stretchy Polyester/Nylon/Lycra blend that's more sporty than plush. In my opinion they're the ideal warmth for either 33-49 degree F (0-10 degrees C) dry weather or for when you just plan on keeping your hands in your coat pockets and want a little more protection than not having anything on your hands. If you plan on being in wet or below freezing temps then these aren't going to be the best choice.

They aren't the perfect glove, especially for a man's hands, but they're the closest I've been able to find.

I am a crossing guard: at times I need gloves and other a mitten is needed so these are perfect for me. These gloves/mittens are versatile and fit well. I love the tight cuff, "grippy surface" on palm. Another nice feature: when the thumb flaps are in position no part of my thumb is exposed and are held back by magnets when not in use. They easily convert from mittens to gloves, and the hide-away pocket for the mitten flap is a nice feature. The mitten top is made of a thinner material so they are not for really cold weather, but then again the product never claimed to be that. The only downside (which is unavoidable!) is that when the gloves are put in the dryer the magnets make them stick to the inside of the drum. I solved this by air drying them.

I bought these to go on long runs in the winter/cold with but i find that my fingers feel so spread apart and uncomfortable, i felt i should have just bought plain old mittens. They're very soft and cushiony so I'll be using these casually for work now.
