My front and back yard sprinkler systems were put in at different times. The front had a RainBird controller with Hunter rotors. The back, Hunter controller with RB rotors (go figure). So when it came time to replace the RB controller, I'd also had 6 years experience with a Hunter controller (Pro-C). Though both controllers worked perfectly, I chose to replace the RB controller with this Hunter X-Core (Pro-C and X-Core are almost identical in function/operation... Pro-C is modular and can be expanded to 16 stations, while X-Core is fixed for 2, 4, 6, or 8 stations).

Replacing the RB with X-Core was a snap. Easy installation, easy programming... instructions are clear, works smooth as a gravy sandwich. Also has available a relatively low cost remote control which everybody who has one claims, "Love it... should have bought this years ago". Can't speak to longevity/durability, of course, as it's new... but if this controller meets your system needs, I'm confident you'll like it. RECOMMENDED!

Very pleased, a breeze to install since it was a replacement ! I have a few things to figure out in the programming part yet, it is a replacement for my previous Hunter and not exactly the same, but replaced ONE wire at a time instead of disconnecting all at once, and the replacement was really easy (20 min. maybe ?) The charge to have this replaced in my area runs from $225 to over $300, so very happy I took advice of a neighbor and just ordered from Amazon and replaced it myself (female) with no experience in this what so ever ! Worked manually as soon as I finished connecting the last wire and plugged it in. Am still working on the various programming functions, but at least it is ready to go manually as soon as I turn to "manual".

I bought this to replace a Hunter Sprinkler outdoor model that would no longer work due to a lightning strike in my yard. The old model and this one are kept in my garage. I did all the troubleshooting from the company's website to see if I could get my damaged unit to work again, but then I learned from their website that high electrical currents can fry control panels. This new indoor unit is working perfectly. Hunter sprinkler products have been very reliable. It is the lightning that can cause problems if it hits too close to home.

Great replacement for my fifteen-year-old Hunter controller which finally died. Extremely easy to install. Extremely easy to program. Other reviews say it's missing capabilities found in older models, but the manual showed me all the features that were in my old unit, plus many more. You just have to read the book.

This was a much cheaper way to go than paying the irrigation contractor to replace it. The whole process took under an hour, and that included reading the manual and setting up the watering schedule. It's all low-voltage wiring, requiring only a standard screwdriver. The hardest part was prying off the cover to access the screw terminals. The plastic tabs will break off easily if you aren't very careful.

This unit replaced my 19 year Hunter Sprinkler Controller and so I really could appreciate the much smaller size - and how intuitive its design is. Very simple to understand, a child could do it. One thing which stands out for me is that when I need to cut down, or increase the amount of watering for my lawn, Hunter has designed a "Seasonal Adjustment" which allows you to raise or lower the water usage. So this is a great time saver. You don't have to go to each station and readjust their respective run times. I also purchased a rain sensor and it has worked great. One less thing to worry about. When it rains - my Hunter turns off the sprinklers saving time and money!
