Had a knife rack with various makes of knives. As a cook, I needed better. Bought these and they are really great for the price.
Sharp and a nice set of knives

Very nice knife set, the block is larger than my old set but still fits into the spot. This is a quality knife set that will last years. They even have a service that emails you to sharpen them. I'm replacing an older set from 2002 so I got 21 years out of it and in reality if I took better care of that old set and remembered to sharpen it I would still be using it. I expect that this set will last at least that long, probably longer seeing as to I hand wash this one vs. Using the dishwasher on the old set. The color of the block is really nice, I got the natural one, the thickness of the blades is pretty much the same as my old set so quality has not deminished. i do like the new handles better than the older set, they fit better in my hand and I feel that I have better control. The blade balance e in very nice and you get a good selection of the most popular knives, the kitchen scissor is somewhat misplaced, I wish they had included a good filet knife instead of scissors but I knew what I was getting so I can't complain about what it came with.
Top notch knife set

I labored over this choice as a Xmas present for my wife for weeks. There are a lot of options out there. For me, I made the decision based on reviews and the reputation of the brand. We've had these in use for almost a year now and I can say it was a very good purchase. It has everything you need plus a high quality pair of scissors. The knives are still really sharp. They feel heavy and premium in your hands. They are dishwasher safe, but I would recommend hand washing with some dove soap to keep them sharp and lasting long
Amazing!

Love these knives! Easy to use, very sharp, and clean up easily. I'm taking care of these babies because I want to use them for a long time. I highly recommend these knives if you want quality without having to take out a loan.
Good knives but..

I like Henckels, I've had a set for years. This set has a couple of cons though. First, and this will sound strange to most people, there's too many knives in the set - or possibly the block that's holding them is too small. Check out the picture. That's a lot of knives crammed into a rather small block. My hands are sort of big with fat fingers and these knives are just too close together. Not a big deal, but bugged me enough that I removed 5 of the knives from the block and now have them on the magnetic knife strip. Much better. The only other complaint - what type of steel/metal are these made from? The set I was replacing I've had for years and never a nick or problem with the blade, and these have been dropped on the tile floor and on the deck outside. This set, one steak knife hit the ceramic tile floor point down and the point bent backwards. Not a lot, you can barely see it when looking, but when washing the knives this one bent tip always catches on the dishrag and towel. Once again, not a big deal, but I wouldn't expect these knives to do something like that.
