DO NOT BUY FRIEDRICH!!!
Martha Bartley•October 10, 2017
DO NOT BUY FRIEDRICH!!! We bought this unit to replace a recently purchased unit that was a little noisier than we hoped for our bedroom. I usually don't write reviews and am generally satisfied with the products I have purchased on Amazon and have been totally satisfied with Amazon service.
So, this unit is quiet and it does an adequate job of cooling. BUT don't you also expect a window unit to decrease the humidity in a room. Any other unit I have ever had did. This one almost seems to,increase humidity. Whereas the rest of the house on the central system was showing around 45-50% humidity, our room as 70% plus. Emails to Friedrich were handled timely, but all they could offer was to have to have a warranty repair facility come fix the problem, which might have been okay if either of the closest companies would service our area, but neither do. We are in a large metropolitan area, so that shows their warranty coverage is way less than adequate. I'm going to call Amazon tomorrow to see if there is some type of resolution.

We've been using this A/C all summer and it's held up pretty well. It's fairly quiet but still loud enough that you have to turn up the TV to hear over the noise. It's not as bad as others we've had though so at least we're not yelling at each other while we're in the same room to talk.
The remote control setting is an excellent feature, no more running to the A/C to adjust the temp or turn it off/on. It also has a power saving feature for when you're gone all day it won't use a ton of electricity. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't feel cold enough. We measured the room before we bought it so we bought the right size according to the suggestions, however, it still seems like it could be colder. We keep it on 68 at night and 72 during the day. Other than that it has worked as expected and it was easy to install.

Good "bones", bad controls.

Rather disappointing. Many reviews have said it's quiet. On low fan speed, yes. Quieter than most. Bad points though: 1. every time it's powered off, then back on, it comes back in "money saver mode" where the unit shuts off completely whenever temperature setting is reached. I suppose this would be fine for an office, not so much for a bedroom. (it does have "cool" mode where fan keeps running, but you must reselect it every time you power up.) 2. Maybe I am unusual here but I find it overly limiting that it can only be set as low as 60 degrees F. 3. when outdoor temp is low 60s or less, it freezes up. (I need to run it even when it's fairly cool outside. I work night shift and can't sleep with the sun glaring in the open window.) 4. it has a remote, but you pretty much have to use only the remote forever or the built in control panel forever. if you mix and match, mode and temps and speed get all out of whack. Each time you use the remote. all the settings in the remote get forced into the unit.
Its just fine.

It was easily installed and it cools and dehumidifies perfectly and has good temperature control.

Some of the negative reviews seem a bit strange - like faulting it for excessive noise. A unit this size with 6K BTU's is not going to be whisper quiet, but I have not seen any quieter units of this type and I have no problems using this machine in a bedroom. It also looks to be solidly constructed and well engineered. The least impressive looking component would appear to be the fan motor, but if I get 8 years out of it, that will be fine.

Cheap loud product

The fans are misaligned and causes a god awful fan. Pretty common complaint as you can see. I am extremely dissatisfied. You'd think paying a premium would give you a quality product. Now I have to wait 5 more days for a replacement in the heat. I'd shop for a different a/c if I could rewind the clock.
