Broken or noisy or refabricated?

Bought a discounted unit in "like new" condition, arrived completely smashed up and unusable.
Bought a full price "New" unit. The fan hits the internal styrofoam and makes an awful "Wham!-wham-wham!" sound. Posted a video of the noise, my review was then refused publication. Ordered a replacement for one last try.
Beware!
3rd ac arrived, it works great! And is very quiet too. The box looked used. I can see inside where the fan used to hit the Styrofoam. This leads me to believe Friedrich is refurbishing their faulty units OR running them until the internal styrofoam wears out from the fan hitting it, then reselling them as "New."
Over all, a really unpleasant and arduous experience. In the end, a great ac...

It was easily installed and it cools and dehumidifies perfectly and has good temperature control.
Friedrich Chill CP06G10B 6000 BTU Window Air Conditioner.
Some of the negative reviews seem a bit strange - like faulting it for excessive noise. A unit this size with 6K BTU's is not going to be whisper quiet, but I have not seen any quieter units of this type and I have no problems using this machine in a bedroom. It also looks to be solidly constructed and well engineered. The least impressive looking component would appear to be the fan motor, but if I get 8 years out of it, that will be fine.

Don't Buy this item. Installed in wall. When tested, the inside blades close to front of unit hits the styrofoam insulation. Tried to fix it and now the back blade hit shroud. Have to fix unit because trying to sell home. Friedrichs have poor Quality Control. I blew any warrenty because I installed shell in wall already. DON'T BUY, DON't BUY, DON'T BUY!!!!

Great Quiet AC, terrible customer support.

5 stars for the AC unit, it's the best one I've found for use in a bedroom. Quiet compressor, fan, doesn't rattle and actually hits the temperature you set it to.
1 star for their customer support in the warranty period. In a perfect world every single AC would work great, but things do fail and that's where the warranty comes in. But Freidrich makes it so painful and long:
Step 1: Have a licensed Friedrich installer inspect and determine the issue (this you pay out of your pocket, not cheap)
Step 2: Send report of defect to Friedrich to determine next steps
Step 3: Wait, follow up, wait, follow up... it's been 4 weeks in processing. Not sure why it takes that long to get me a replacement for a clearly broken AC unit.

Wonderfully cool and quiet window a/c unit!!

Wonderful little window a/c unit! I have whole house a/c....but at night, I don't want to cool my entire house(3000 sq. ft). Just wanted to keep the master bedroom comfortable at night. While a mini split is the perfect solution, I just didn't want to spend that much. So, I purchased a Frigadaire window a/c unit at Lowes for $239. We installed it and used it for one week and then returned it. The noise level WAS intolerable for a bedroom and the cooling was mediocre...this was the 8000 BTU model, for a 350 sq. ft room. Did a little research online and discovered that Consumer Reports rated Friedrich brand a/c units as the quietest in window units. Sounded good to me....so I purchased the 6000 BTU model, rated for a 250 sq ft room...my master bedroom is actually 300 sq ft. This unit was priced comparably to the Frigadaire and the shipping reasonable with no tax!
This unit is very well made. Installation was easy. As for the noise level.....while it is not whisper quiet(like a mini split) it is at least 60% quieter than the Frigadaire. With the Frigadaire, I had to turn the volume up on the TV to level 20, while I normally have the volume at 13. With the
Friedrich, I've had to adjust the volume to level 14. This unit sounds more like a quiet car engine, not a jet. As for the cooling capability.....well it's ICY cold.....ICY COLD! Very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it.
