"Prime" pricing for a sub-par product
An Amazon customerDecember 15, 2017
How annoying that I paid $34.99 for this item and it's now selling for a more appropriate $20.75. I'm a Prime customer, but one thing I've learned is that it's foolish to think "I've paid these people $100 for the honor of shopping from them for a year". You will be victimized if you don't comparison shop.

This item is alright. The vacuum effect is imperfect, but still a bit less messy than a trimmer without one. The first one died as soon as it ran out of juice--never took a recharge. The company was good about providing an immediate, free, new replacement that was rechargeable. In practical use the downfall of this item is its vacuum intake, around which you cannot see what you're doing when trimming. Thanks to that downfall, I would not recommend this item to anyone nor would I purchase one like it again. You're better off with a trimmer you can use than one you can't that makes less of a mess.

And shop around!

My first vacuum trimmer was a Philips Norelco QT4070 back in 2012 which eventually died in 2015. I then replaced it with another QT4070 which lasted until 2017. They had a weak latch on the door to clean out the trimmings from the vacuum function which broke within a month on both trimmers. I had used tape or rubber bands to keep the door on. I got a Remington Vacuum haircut clipper and loved it so I decided to give their trimmer a try instead of buying a new Philips Norelco 7200 Vacuum at double the cost.

First I will say it doesn't seem to do as good a job on my beard at longer lengths. I used to keep my beard around 8mm sometimes going down to 6mm if my face was particularly itchy. My last trim on the QT4070 was set to 8mm nearly a week ago. Setting the Remington to 6mm it didn't seem to cut anything off and what it did cut seemed uneven. Wanting to be even I went down to 4mm. This is fine because I can rock stubble too but I do prefer a more substantial beard. My hair and beard are quite wiry and it has a bit of a curl/wave to it so it's possible that the hair was just curved under the blade and couldn't reach it. We will see when it regrows (so that its chopping off the end of the hair instead of "the middle"). Also it is worth noting that it came nearly fully charged. I had it plugged in less than an hour before it was charged. If you really needed to, you could trim right out of the box.

Pros:

1. It came with different trimmer heads and a little shaver and even a nose hair trimmer. All of them seem to work with the vacuum function. I like this.

2. The vacuum catches at least 25% more hair than my last Philips Norelco.

3. I like how you detach the hair catchment system and take that to the trash bin instead of the entire trimmer. I have a tendency to want to "tap" out the hairs and I'd rather do this with a tiny piece of plastic rather than the entire trimmer.

Cons:

1. The length adjustment on the adjustable comb is more cumbersome that the Philips Norelco's dial. It also adjusts in 2 mm increments where as my Philips Norelco adjusts in 1 mm increments.

2. Didn't trim as well on first use. (My beard type never does. Will update.)

Initial conclusion: Right now if you're looking for a great vacuum stubble trimmer I can attest that this one is good to go. It's is already cheaper than a comparable Philips Norelco and has some extras that the QT4070 and 7200 don't have that add to the value. I will see about beard trimming as mine grows back and update the review.

Update:
I've had the trimmer for about 20 days now. I can't seem to get an even trim past 6 mm with it. The comb section in front of the blade is a bit more pronounced than the Philips Norelco was. I think what's happening is my sort of wavy curly beard catches on that and gets pulled away from the blade. Also, because it has 2mm adjustments rather than 1 mm adjustments you can't tidy your beard up as often while growing it.
Quite happy after 1st use

So far (only 1 shave in), I like this a lot. I had the Phillips Norelco equivalent, but like many reviewers, the plastic clips broke off and I found it more economical to buy an entire replacement altogether. After trying another brand and returning it, I got this one. Some reviewers said it was noisy. I don't find it noisy at all, although it does make an odd whir when turning off. Out of the box, it was a little disconcerting to figure out how to put on the multi-length comb without breaking the thing, but I was able to do so after a few minutes of tinkering. Make sure the plastic fin guides on either side are lined up, then press the button on the back (nearest the blades), and it should slide on. Once that was on, I gave it a shot, and it worked great. I had to do very few passes over the hair to be confident that I got it all. And, the vacuum chamber just snaps off to empty. It captured around 90% of the hairs, I'd say, and they came out of the chamber in a nice little clump, so it was easy to wash down the (still clean) sink.
Some reviewers said they felt the trimmer pulling out hairs. I didn't experience that, although it does say to sharpen it monthly if you choose to wash it off with water, so maybe that's worth keeping in mind.
As long as this one holds up over time, I think I'll be quite happy with it. The charging cord is decently long (I'm going to guess about 4-5 feet).
I did not use the precision trimmer or the foil roll thing, but I did use the nose hair trimmer which was also satisfying.
So little to clean!!!

I use this trimmer to cut the hair on my head. I use the lowest setting on the adjustable trimmer and then I go over the ear area with the #0 attachment. For short hair there is VERY little hair that does not get sucked by the vacuum. I've been using cordless trimmers to cut my hair for over 15 years and I can't convey how nice it is to not have to clean up all the hair from the sink and around my neck. Everything stays so clean - I love it. This is also the first trimmer I have used with a lithium battery and it is much more powerful and charges very quickly. Cleaning the trimmer itself is also easy. I rinse the hair basket and other attachments and brush away any hair that remains. The main unit requires no cleaning.
I'd like to give this 3

After my first shave, I'd like to give this 3.5 stars but I don't want to give it 4. I had on old Whal vacuum beard trimmer that sucked up more than this one does. I'm considering returning this one and getting a Remington Beard Boss
