Easy to Install, straightforward wiring, and no humming or flickering of lights anymore.
ReversemidasmanJuly 7, 2018
Easy to install. Wiring diagram is straightforward right on the ballast. Super light weight compared to the old failed ballast that was at leas twice as big and heavy too. It fit directly were the old ballast was without any additional drilling of holes to screw it down into the fixture. The length of wiring was more than suffice and I had to plastic tie back the extra. Well made and there was no humming or flickering of the lights at all after installing this new ballast. Probably will need to order another one as I expect the other similar fixture in the kitchen to also fail and need replacement soon too.
Light unit works fine. By the way

I replaced a 40 year old Robertson ballast with this. This was a two bulb setup with the original ballast having 2 blues 2 reds and 2 ( I would guess) considering the age of the unit started out as yellow. Anyways, it also had the white and black. At first I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work until I viewed a couple of you tube videos...they did not specifically cover my problem but I got a clue, you could say, on how to approach troubleshooting the connections. Light unit works fine. By the way, original ballast weighted I would guess 3 to 4 pounds...this unit weights about 1/4 pound. I took a chance on this unit because I would save about half the price at Home Depot and gas is going up and I have to factor that into the purchase price also...great unit and would highly recommend

UPDATE ONE
EDIT: PREVIOUS REVIEW WILL BE UPDATED, DEPENDING ON LONG TERM PERFORMANCE.

FOR NOW: buzzing has stopped, flickering has stopped, fixture appears to be functioning as well as its GE peers. Bizarre. Will continue to monitor and compare fixture temperature, ambient temperature, speed, luminescence, and sound and report any significant deviations.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

I want my money back. I purchased one of these with the intention of purchasing another five if the first one worked out well. I got impatient/ decided I couldn't wait til the next work week to replace the remaining five, so I went by Lowe's and got the standard GE equivalent. All five fixtures with GE ballasts are working fantastic. This fixture with the Robertson ballast has one bulb with a noticeable delay, has an audible buzz and also intermittently rapidly dims one bulb. I've checked the fixture contacts, the wiring in the attic, replaced the LED bulbs and swapped ballasts. It's the Robertson ballast causing the issue.

Either I'm unlucky or these ballasts are unreliable/ have bad quality control.

I'd suggest spending the additional couple bucks per fixture to have a reliable product. It's simply not worth the additional fire hazard of having poorly manufactured products installed in the walls/ ceiling of your house.

Send me an exchange, Robertson, and I'll post a new review, taking the replacement part into consideration. The longer this review goes unanswered, the longer this review stays. I'll also award stars in quality and promptness of customer response and comment on those as well.
Great inexpensive ballast - replaced my buzzing T12 with this.

I replaced my buzzing T12 ballast with this and voila, no more buzzing! Anyone not familiar with the replacing a T12 with a T8 may find it a bit unnerving if the wiring looks different. I know I was a little concerned. A little Google search gave me the answer I was looking for. My T12 ballast had 2 blue wires and 2 red wires going to each bulb on one side then 2 yellow coming from the other side for both bulbs. The trick here was to combine the 2 blue wires from the fixture with 1 blue wire from this ballast, combine the 2 red wires with the other blue wire from the ballast, and combine the 2 yellow wires with the 1 red wire from the ballast. The black and white for power was the same so nothing tricky there. Attached is a pic of the old T12 ballast with its wiring scheme for clarification.
two duds
Kris G.February 8, 2017
I used this item to replace an old ballast for 2 F32T8 bulbs. When connected and powered on, the two bulbs flashed for an instant and then went dark. I bought two of these so I'd have a backup (my place of work has tons of these same fluorescent fixtures) so I went ahead and hooked up the second ballast. Same thing- an instant of light, then nothing. I thought perhaps a wire was loose in one of the sockets but on a hunch, I went and bought another ballast (Advance) and this time it worked like a charm.
I may be the unlucky purchaser who got the dud, but the fact that I was 0 for 2 in the same order is enough to keep me clear of this brand. When I was shopping for the ballasts that Amazon had for my lamp number and type and found this item, I thought I would save a few bucks, but... you know the rest, ygwypf.
