The volume and music output is excellent. I love the 8GB storage. The inclusion of the radio is nice.
I used to have the exact same model, but it was a 2GB. To be honest I liked it better. Part of it is that the pause button is on the side rather than the front. The loading of actual media takes longer. My biggest complaint is that with the 2GB model you could scroll through over 100 songs in less than 30seconds. This model you have to go one by one. It makes it hard to navigate when you have over 100 songs. I realize you could search by artist or album through the folder selection but I personally have always found that to be needlessly cumbersome. Maybe I am in the minority, but I memorize where all my songs are. I know the number for. I know what songs are next to it in the play list. It is much easier to scroll rapidly through the songs and stop where I want to. Over all it is a good device. Very good for the price you pay. The battery life is much more defined than the older models.

I bought four of these for my 6th graders to share on a rotational basis. They love listening to music while writing and I like the control of being sure the music they listen to is "clean" music. At this point, they can listen to the local stations available on the Mp3 player. When more PTA funds are available, I plan on buying and downloading different albums or songs that they like. This Mp3 player comes with 2 sets of ear buds..a HUGE bonus. I highly recommend these for young children when you don't want to worry about cost, but want value.
