This works well and keeps the fancy salt next to the stove, covered so that nothing gets in there accidentally. But the best thing about the bamboo is that it absorbs moisture. In the hot part of the summer, the humidity didn't affect the salt. The grains stayed separated and didn't stick together. That was nice.

The containers had a slight odor when I got them so I washed them with soap and water then wiped them with a microfiber cloth to dry, then Immediately filled one with Fleur De Sel and the other with fine grain Pink Himalayan Salt. After 3 days out on the kitchen table (the sun tends to shine in directly on the containers around lunchtime) the salts still kept their original properties. I live in Hawaii where humidity is a concern, and usually they'd get moist and cake up. But these containers do the trick! Recommended!

We purchased the Tree of Life Bamboo Salt Box and absolutely love it. We use ours to house truffle salt. The design on top if really cool - looks like a split log but when you examine closely you can actually see patterns of animals. The lid stays attached and works well. The size is perfect to allow fingers in for a pinch of salt. The box keeps salt fresh and sealed and looks very pleasing to the eye. We love it and will definitely be purchasing more. It's equivalent in size to a large apple.

I was looking for a salt pig or cellar or box that would function as well as look beautiful. I liked so many of them, but this one won out because the lid shuts keeping my salt nice and dry and CLEAN. I chose the fleur-de-lis with the word "sel" on it because I hope to keep fleur de sel in it, and I thought it clever. I normally despise anything with a stamp on it telling you what to do with the product basically making it a unitasker, but I made an exception for this beauty. I love the fact that I can pick salt with my hands because the opening allows for that where on others a spoon is necessary. There is a small spot on the top of mine where it looks like the stain dripped, but I think that mistake makes me like it even more.
