Well, there's only so much you can say about a USB to NES controller adapter. It works, and works as expected, and first time without a hitch. I think, from reading what others have complained about, you might want to hook it up as stated on the package. Attach the NES controller to the adapter first, then plug into the USB port. I can only say for sure it works on Windows 7 Professional x64 as that's what I use.
This adapter, an original NES-004 controller, and puNES emulator is a perfect match and as about as authentic you'll probably get aside from just buying an original console.
Keep in mind this can also be used for other games besides NES when used with joy2key. Just an added bonus I suppose.

They work but make ghost-button presses

I purchased these for use in a RetroPie build. They function as expected. Unfortunately, I get ghost-presses (left hat) while they're plugged into the Pi, regardless of whether or not a controller is also plugged into the converter. It's completely random; sometimes, hours will go by without a press and, other times, there will be a few in rapid succession. It's really irritating if I happen to be watching something in Kodi. I now leave them unplugged unless they're in use.

I was wanting to buy a controller for my pc that was a clone of a NES controller but I read that they were really flimsy. I then stumbled upon this adapter and bought it, not expecting much, but I was surprised to see how well it worked! I highly recommend it!

The connection with the original controller is very good. Bought the controller on luckygames for $9 and now I play old NES games on my Mac Mini and 52" TV, this is just so awesome !
