Take Back The Night - with a MicroSolar HEAVY DUTY LIGHT!
Roger Wilco•May 19, 2017
Hello, I recently purchased numerous solar powered lights of varying brands.... and this MicroSolar heavy duty light is my hands down favorite as it lights up my whole back yard very well, now I can see the four legged critters and whatever/whoever else may be lurking about easily.... and it stays on all night long!
The unit is built to last, all steel & very sturdy... installation was straight forward & simple.... after charging it all day I hung it under the eaves where it is protected from rain & direct sunlight so it should last a good while.
I think I will be purchasing a few more of these, they are just that good... I love lighting up the night with free energy! 5 bright stars

2 of 3 units work great. MicroSolar worked with me to finally replace unit that did not function correctly.

Revised review: After some issues and several work arounds swaping out parts supplied by the manufacturer, they finally agreed to send a completely new unit. I have had a total of three of these fixtures, and two of them have functioned perfectly for over a year.
Previous reveiw: Worked great for 4 months, but no longer functions. It is in a protected location where rain or water does not come into contact with the LED light fixture. I have contacted MicroSolar about getting a replacement under their One Year Warranty. I will update this review to reflect how they respond to the issues with the non-functioning light.

The best Solar light in its price range class

The best Solar light in its price range class. Gives Daylight feeling when it turns itself on at night. Stays on with the same intensity throughout the night. Recommendable.
Very pleased with this item

Very pleased with this item. Mounted it on a tall post and it provides the light of about a 60W bulb as expected. Provides night light on our farm out in the country. Looks a bit flimsy, so we'll hope it holds up over the years (up 6 months now). Note, you need to change the battery every 2-3 years.
I highly recommend both the product, and especially the vendor, MicroSolar!

I bought these lights to light a sign for a local business customer. They do a very nice job lighting the sign. One thing to note is that in order the evenly light the 4'x8' sign, the light itself needs to be 3 to 5 feet away from the sign itself. If it is mounted at the edge of the sign, it will be very bright right in front of the light, but the light will not be able to evenly light the whole sign. This can be done by mounting the light on a mount over the sign at least 4 or 5 feet out, or if there is no danger of damage, possibly on the ground shining up at the sign. The latter was not an option for us, as snow would cover the light during the winter months. So we have had to mount the lights either above or to the side of the sign, but again, out away from the sign in order to evenly illuminate it.
It's also important to be sure that the solar panels are properly aimed toward the sun at noon. This will likely mean that you should adjust them for best performance, perhaps twice a year to account for the different position of the sun, low in the sky in winter, and so aimed low, and high in the sky in summer, and so aimed high.
I had a water intrusion issue into the connection in the cables between the solar panels and the lights, so I dried out the connectors, blowing the water out with compressed air like one would use for electronics, and then I filled the connectors with dielectric grease to keep the water out of the connectors. I then screwed them back together with the knurled nuts, and haven't had any problems since. I might also add that the manufacturer MicroSolar was very responsive to my inquiry about this issue, and responded within the day with suggestions about how to resolve the problem. In addition, they emphasized that they were ready to stand behind their product, and were willing to quickly replace it if necessary. While that was not necessary in this instance, it gives us reason for confidence when a vendor responds so quickly with a solution and a readiness to replace a possibly defective product.
The only downside I could mention is the water intrusion issue, but this was easily resolved with the use of the dielectric grease in the connectors. I might suggest that MicroSolar include a small tube with their lights to avoid this issue coming up in the future.
I highly recommend both the product, and especially the vendor, MicroSolar for being so ready to quickly respond to their customers!
