With this device and a couple of extra Amazon Basics optical cables, we're able to split our single optical out port on our smart tv and share it with a wireless Bluetooth speaker located across the room, and also with a wired sound bar and also with a wireless set of Bluetooth headphones. It makes it possible for one member of the household with hearing deficit to hear the tv at the volume needed while others in the room hear the volume at a normal decibel.

i wanted to run two discrete channels , free of line noise off one spdif output from my PC. one for headphones amp, one for a bass amp for a bass shaker. this did the trick and has a 3rd output if i wanted to use this for a different setup.

My girlfriend has cochlear implants and has the Cochlear TV Streamer. The TV has only a single audio out, so I bought this splitter to use with the soundbar. Audio comes out of TV to this splitter then from this, one goes to soundbar and other goes to Cochlear TV Streamer. This works perfectly. The soundbar has very clear sound. No crackles, delays or intermittent cutting out. My girlfriend says the Cochlear TV Streamer is the same.
Don't cut corners by buying the cheapest thing you can find, there is a difference. This device is powered which is a reason why the audio quality is so clear with no loss. Not only is this something everyone wants, but with hearing devices especially, its even more important there is no lag or loss of sound quality.
