nice and absorbent. I like that it is washable. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the picture confused me. I did not realize that the shape of the mat is not like in the picture, but the mat in the picture is folded in half. My dogs slobber a little further than the mat so I liked the idea of a mat in the shape depicted in the picture.
