Excellent tool for cooking. The temperature reading doesn't jump around as radically as other Instant read thermometers I've had. Maybe it is the nature of instant read thermometers to have their readings jump a couple of times per second. While making gelato I need a temperature to read 185 degrees. Others have jumped 20+degrees up and down making it difficult. This one varies only about 5 degrees, making it much more reliable to know when I have the correct temp.
Compact enough that it doesn't take up a lot of space in the kitchen drawer but still easy to read the LCD screen

This thermometer was recommended to me by a coworker, who uses hers for quickly reading the temperature of the various foods we prepare at the deli we work in. It reads temperatures quickly and accurately, and is very easy to clean. It also is moderately durable, as I have dropped mine dozens, if not hundreds of times since I bought it. This usually happens due to me being naturally clumsy, but the thermometer itself can easily fall out of the pen-pocket at the top of the aprons we use when I bend forward to far because the bulbous display makes it very top-heavy. As a result of tumbling out of my hands or the pocket, my display has been damaged to the point where some of the digits in the right half of the display are missing some of their segments.
This makes it difficult to read at times, but it is otherwise fully functional and takes accurate readings when compared to my coworker's undamaged unit.

I have been using it for a month now, fast. I have been holding my hand over hot oil while my last 'digital' thermometer finally told me the temp. Geez. In a matter of 2 seconds, you have the real temperature with this. I have tried several others, they have broken or take 5-10 seconds to show the temp. I don't know how they could make this any faster? What we're all looking for is the fastest temp possible, you have found it with this one.

I bought this as part of a Father's Day present for my husband last year (2014) and am not one to leave reviews until we've actually used the item pretty extensively so I can provide good information. This is a great tool. My husband uses it when he grills and smokes. I use it to take internal temperatures while cooking as well and it's been absolutely wonderful. It's easy to clean, durable, and simple to use. It's become an indispensable tool around our house and I only wish we'd bought it sooner rather than trying to make do with the shoddy old one from Walmart we had previously.
