I got this, sort of for all the wrong reasons. I was worried about the potential of exposure due to a out of country vacation. Well, you can imagine how much I used/looked at this on vacation - vanishingly little. However, when I did - it was ready to rock and roll. In fact, I turned it on and put in my backpack...only, I forgot about it for the following fours days. It was still taking readings and was running like a champ.
Once I got back home, I decided to 'test' it and grab'ed some materials that I knew to be a bit hotter than background... and it reg'ed these just fine.
This is a well built (based on the fact the unit lasted so long on a single charge ) piece of equipment. Recommend highly. As for analytical accuracy, that I don't know - as I don't have the necessary testing instrumentation; however, it 'feels' right, if that makes sense.

After watching a few post-apocalyptic movies recently, it occurred to me if I need to evacuate after a radioactive fallout-producing event, how would know if my chosen bug-out location was safe? Most disasters produce some kind of visible clues as to where it is safe or not safe to be. How else do you know the areas that are safe from radiation (except maybe by counting bodies of dead mammals?)

It holds a charge for a really long time. It is durable as heck. I wear it hanging off my belt hiking and exploring abandoned mines and it just keeps working. It's fun to have in my pocket and be able pull it out and easily see if there is elevated radiation levels. It is small enough that I can carry it in my pocket. This is a really good deal.
