Great Seal; Bad Opener

It works, sort of. I had their AUTOSEAL Travel Mug for about two months and it worked better and kept the contents hotter/colder than this model. It was more of pain to clean, but I liked it better. Then I left it in Canada where it remains today alone and lost in Gravenhurst. This model is easier to clean and does an adequate job, but the big hassle is getting the lid seal pried up. Yikes! That thing is one sticky bear. Maybe it will ease up with time and usage, but after a few weeks it still takes both hands to pry up the release. The flip side is once you have it sealed, nothing will come out and damage your laptop or keyboard etc etc. It is definitely shut tight. I also liked the rubberized gripper around the middle. Better temp holding and easier opening would make it a five star unit for sure.
Love this cup and would easily buy it again.....

My first of this product, it was a gift and I have used it so much that I needed another one, and this size was a good price. If anyone drinks alot of coffee WITH milk like I do, even when you drink all the coffee, if you don't rinse, the milk residue has a tendency to linger. BUT it is my experience that alot ot insulated cups do anyway. So I soak it in bleach and that does it for a time, but I have such a passion for my coffee/greentea/milk, that soaking it has become a pain in the rear, so I knew it was time for a new one. I have always been a fan of the large Thermos bottle, which works so well, the coffee still gives out some steam when you pour, so when I got the Contigo (decided to do individual rather than the large Thermos) as a gift, I turned up my nose. Big mistake; love this cup and will easily buy it again....
Almost made it to a year - almost.

I have owned almost every version of the Contigo coffee travel mugs, I love how they actually do keep my coffee hot and mostly spill-proof. I say 'mostly'because once in a while, I do get some leaking out from under the cap, but not often. This version is my favorite so far because the cap is much easier to clean than previous versions.

The one thing I'm definitely not a fan of is the rubber on the click lock part of the cap is disintegrating after just under 11 months. Granted, I literally use this every day, and always click the lock closed because I can be clumsy and don't need to be spilling hot coffee all over. I had hoped with this latest redesign it would last a little longer than all the other versions I've had to throw out. Hopefully their *next* redesign will address the rubber portion and make it more durable. Had to knock a star off for the click lock rubber disintegration, but can't complain about the cup doing its part to keep my coffee hot!
Perfect in every way!

This is my favorite travel mug ever. I've had many and they've all faltered in their design in some way, but this one hits every point right on the head. It keeps my coffee hot for an hour (or more) and when the lid is sealed this thing really is leak-proof. The drinking spout is comfortable and allows just the right amount of liquid through at a time. The mug fits in the cup holder in my van. It fits under the spout of my Keurig (hallelujah!). And it has a hidden opening to equalize pressure so you get a steady flow of liquid when you take a sip. I can't tell you how many other travel mugs I've had that completely FAIL in this area (because their designers failed physics, apparently) - you take a sip and get nothing, nothing, nothing, then you're hit with a sudden coffee tsunami when the pressure finally lets up inside the mug. Ugh! Not with this mug. Not ever. Because its designers were good little boys and girls who paid attention in physics class. :D

My husband and I have three of these mugs - two 16 oz. and one 20 oz. We prefer the 16 oz. size because it fits under the Keurig (when you remove the tray) so we can brew straight into our mugs before heading out the door. The red is a bright ruby red that I love and it's held up to washing well. My husband has the steel gray one and it hasn't fared as well - the paint is definitely washing off (and we hand-wash only). But that's no big deal - it still keeps our coffee hot. :)
Had to get used to it, but it works and keeps coffee hot

keeps coffee hot for a very long time. The other day, I only finished about 1/2 of it when a friend called and asked me to meet for lunch. Over 2 hours later I returned and the coffee was still hot!! Well, maybe not piping hot, but it was most definitely more than warm and drinkable!!
The only drawback to this mug is that the mechanism for the lid is a bit large and takes up a lot of room on the inside of the cup, so you can't actually fill it up, be aware of this and only fill it to about an inch below the top, otherwise, when you try to screw the lid on, you're going to make a mess as hot coffee overflows and spills everywhere!! So a 16 oz mug really only holds about 14oz if you want to put the lid on :( BUT the lid does NOT leak so there is that ;)
