Works great, good deal

I got this as a stocking stuffer (shhhh! It was from me to me!) and I've used it a few times now with my D5100. You do have to go into the menu and set it to receive remote shutter release EVERY time you want to use it, but once you find it it literally takes 3 seconds to turn on the function. I use it anytime I am shooting with a tripod. Landscapes, sunsets, portraits, astrophotography. If you have a sturdy tripod you should get perfect results with no vibration or shakyness. For the price it seems to be a good deal.
Works great, very easy to set up and THANK you ...

note to self and other users- set your camera to delay the snap because you have to point the remote at the camera to activate the snap so if you have it set to instant, you have a bunch of photos of you pointing the remote toward the camera... Works great, very easy to set up and THANK you 2 batteries!
Inconsistent

I think that this is a case of you get what you pay for. The remote did not work beyond a few feet. In my situation I was creating a composite image with myself as the subject. I was in the woods in 35 degree weather. I was in a summer dress, barefoot, 12 feet away and ready for the image. I pressed the remote and it did not fire. I tried over and over again. Remote worked as I walked towards the camera. Unfortunately after a timely set up the photo shoot was a failure, all because of the wireless remote.
Not So Good.

Not so good. I purchased this to replace one that I had gotten that did not work.
1. The range is only about 4 feet away.
2. You can not stand behind the camera to use it. You have to stand directly in front of it to work.
3. No instructions on how this is set up for Sony cameras. Thankfully I knew how to set this up from the other one that I sent back.
I am going to send this back, once again.
My advice is to spend the extra money and get one made by Sony.
Good product so far for me and my Sony A7

Item: CamDesign IR Wireless Remote Control for Sony

Used time: 4 months, around 10 times, for about 200 pictures on a Sony A7.

The good- The price is most appealing, plus the extra battery was the selling point for me. So far this item has not once given me any issues for set up or when it came time to actually use the product. The buttons both work as intended, with zero lag or delay. The usable distance is quite nice too. I am also still using the first of the two batteries.

The bad- The remote and buttons feel cheap and flimsy, and you typically need to be angled more towards the front side of the camera to get a response, but not always. I could see how extensive use may "break" the remote, but this hasn't been the case for me yet.

The random- The bottom tray is a little tricky to open sometimes and I could see it being difficult for people with larger hands or fingers. And sometimes the battery flies out if not opened carefully.

Recommended for- Portraits, night photography, anyone needing the convenience of a wireless trigger, but not needing an extremely expensive or professional one.

Life expectancy- With my current use, I think this item will last me between 1 to 2 years altogether.

Should you buy- Yes, if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative for Sony A7 triggers. Can't speak for other models.

Value for money- 5/5 because of the price and extra battery, plus not having any issues thus far.

Final rating- 5/5

I just enjoy reviewing things that I have purchased as I spend several hours researching these items prior to purchasing.
