OK, economical, but not durable.

More of a disposable option, but it kept me dry riding a motorcycle to Alaska. Wore it under my motorcycle pants. Clip to close waist broke off after a few uses.

These worked great. I wore them over hiking pants and they kept wind and rain out. Great value.
Finally, Rain Pants for Shorter Guys!

I'm 5'7" tall, and it's very hard to find rain pants like these in a size that fits. It's worse because it's very expensive to shorten rain pants that have zippers and Velcro and GorTex sealed seams. It can't be done for less than a fortune. That's why these pants coming in a SHORT length is so wonderful. I live in Seattle, and these pants have been an easy to pack essential item when I know I'm trekking in the rain. They're waterproof, but don't feel like I'm encased in plastic. They also double when I just need to block the wind for some more warmth. They're loose enough so you can unzip the cuff and slip your leg in with your shoe on. There's a handy cinch to take up the waist, not to mention the elastic. They're comfortable and effective, and they come in SHORT! The inseam is 28.5" with a very generous "rise". I hike it up more than my normal belt line. That fits it well under your rain jacket for a good rain seal between the two. My pants also have a nice zippered pocket on the front right thigh, which makes a handy place to keep items you'll need to reach.
